In 1876, when Greendale had a population of just forty people, the Reverend John Hickey became the first pastor of the parish. He soon realized that he needed more than just an occasional service for his congregation; he wanted them to grow into a thriving community. So he began building churches and schoolhouses, as well as creating a new trading post which would serve as the center of village life. In 1911, when Greendale had a population of two hundred people, it became officialy incorporated as a town within Michigan's Lower Peninsula Territory. This gave Greendale more autonomy than most villages – something which has continued to make it one of the most popular places to live in Michigan today. Over time, many new businesses have opened up here: from fast food restaurants to lumber yards! And despite all this activity, there's still plenty of room for peace and quiet – something which makes Greendale one Of America's most beloved towns!

Greendale, Wisconsin is a small town located in the town of Greenfield, Wisconsin. The population was 613 at the 2010 census. Greendale is known for its rich history and culture which has been passed down through family members, friends and local businesses. The first people to live in Greendale were the Potters who arrived in 1847 from Illinois. The next group to arrive were the Smiths in 1851. The Potters left after having a child and decided that they did not like the climate there so they moved to Allis Junction, Iowa. In 1864, a group of farmers from Waukesha County settled in what is now Greendale Township. They named their new community after greenery that grew along their farm land. The first store opened in 1865 and was called the Post Office Store. It was later renamed the Merchants Exchange Store because it served as a meeting place for businessmen from all over Greendale County. The first school open in Greendale was donated by Mrs John Auld who also donated land for it. It was built on the old Methodist church site and classes began on September 8th, 1870. In 1916, Greendale had its first professional basketball game when it played against Racine High School which resulted in a win for Greendale 89-69. In 1920,greendale became an incorporated village with a mayor and six trustees who controlled all aspects of life within their village boundaries including public works, education, social services etc.. Village residents voted to remove themselves from government control on November 3rd1920 after years of complaining about high taxes and lack of decision making power within their organization
Greendale, Wisconsin was first settled in 1854 by Levi Coffin and his wife, Nancy. The town was named after Greendale Township in Illinois, which had been established a year earlier. In 1876, the townsite was bought by John L. Richardson and renamed Greendale after him. The townspeople promptly built a school, post office, and other civic amenities. By 1912, the population of Greendale had grown to 1,500 residents. It wasn't until 1948 that Greendale became an incorporated municipality.
