Grafton, Wisconsin is a small town located in the agricultural region of southcentral Wisconsin. The population was 5,569 at the 2010 census. Grafton is known for its farming and manufacturing industries, including cheese production and golf courses. The first red dot sight history in Grafton dates back to 1916 when John Waddell set up a stationary target shooting range in his barn. By 1922, the Red Dot Sight Company had been established and began selling red dot sights to farmers and fishermen in the area. In 1948, two brothers, Harry and Tom Dulin opened the Dulin Sporting Goods store in Grafton. In 1955, they founded the Smith & Wesson Pistol Company and began marketing pistols with red dots on them. In 1976, Smith & Wesson merged with American Commerce Corporation (ACC) and became part of that company’s firearms division. In 1984, ACM produced its first Glock handgun with a red dot sighting system. That same year also saw the debut of the M&P Shield pistol with a red dot sighting system. Glock later introduced their own version of this weapon called the Glocks n' Roses which featured an illuminated grip safety as well as other enhancements made possible by using a red dot sight system on an existing gun design! Grafton is located on the east bank of the Portage River, about north of Chicago and south of Milwaukee. Grafton was founded in 1854 by John S. Grafton and his brother-in-law, Jacob Wessels. The town first grew around sawmills that were built before Grafton's founding. By 1860, there were also stores and a post office in Grafton. In 1869, Jens Jensen donated land to make room for a public square and schoolhouse in Grafton Township. A year later, James Kline donated land to build a gristmill on the west side of the river in Grafton Township. The first store in town opened on Main Street in 1861. By 1870, there were ten stores and two hotels in Grafton with an population of 1,500 residents. In 1865, Reverend Jesse Lapp from Green Bay donated land to build a church in Grafton Township which became known as "Lapp's Chapel". Over time, various other churches have been built throughout Door County including St Joseph's Catholic Church (1872), First Baptist Church (1876), Holy Cross Jesuit Parish (1904), Christ Episcopal Parish (1945) and Advent Lutheran Parish (1968). In 1893, George Murchison designed and built the first electric streetcar system in America called "The Illinois" which ran from Appleton to Milwaukee via West Allis Avenue through downtown Grafton; this system served as an early model for American streetcars today known as rapid transit systems such as Subway lines or Metro trains! A new ballpark for the Milwaukee Brewers was constructed beginning play in 1998 called Miller Park; it hosted both MLB games during 2001–2006 while also serving as headquarters for the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds Authority until 2005 when they moved their offices across Lake Michigan into another building located adjacent to Miller Park housing their departments such as law enforcement and fire services! Door County Courthouse began construction starting September 2006 utilizing funding provided by Governor Scott Walker under then-Governor Tommy Thompson; it officiallyopened its doors on December 15th 2007! In addition to all these major projects/ renovations/updates taking place within our community over recent years we have seen some very humble things too - our local bar & grill has been open since 1978 & still going strong - same ownership family(s) running it ever since!

The current community of Grafton was founded in 1872 by John Fenton and his family. It was named for General Nathaniel Grafton who had fought with General Anthony Wayne during the American Revolution.

Grafton was founded in 1847 by George W. Grafton and his wife, Eliza Jane. The town was named after Grafton County, Iowa, where George W. Grafton had been born in 1825. The first store in the town was built on Commerce Street by J.M. Hinton in 1851. In 1861, the town became part of the Racine-Waukesha Union School District and remained so until it merged with the Racine-Waukesha Schools System in 1998. The first school in Grafton was a log cabin that was built on Forest Road by John Cramer in 1852. A new school building (renamed East High School) was erected on a lot donated by Mrs. John Sayers in 1865 and dedicated by Governor Nicholas Murray Butler on November 3rd of that year. In 1898, the Grafton Township Board of Education established a high school which would serve as a branch campus for the Racine-Waukesha Schools System; this high school would eventually become known as North Central High School (). Over time, many businesses have located within or around Grafton including: P&L bank (1887), J & L grocery store (1924), Kwik Trip hardware store (1965), Applebee's restaurant (1976), Sears Roebuck and Co.'s home furnishing stores (1981-1985), Beloit Friedrich Steinmetz AG leather machinery company(1991) and today First United Methodist Church has its own location within the town limits
