In Grafton, Wisconsin, the first firearms were designed and built by Dr. John Brown in 1836. The guns that Dr. John Brown developed were used to protect settlers from Native Americans who had been raiding their villages. Over time, other firearms manufacturers have been located in Grafton, including S&W Arms and Colt Firearms Company. Today, the town is home to a number of gun stores and ranges as well as a museum that displays the history of firearms in Grafton. One of the most famous rifles manufactured in Grafton was the Colt M1911A1 pistol which was used by James Bond in Casino Royale (2006). The rifle was made at the Colt Manufacturing Company facilities in nearby Hartford, Connecticut.

Grafton is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,402 at the 2010 census. Grafton is part of the Green Bay–Waukesha–Storrs Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Grafton was David Wilkinson in 1836 and the town began to form around that time. It was named after General James K. Grafton who fought for United States during the Mexican-American War. The area now includes most of west side of Townshend Street and all of south side east of Mound Road, as well as some smaller tracts on Racine Avenue between Brown and State Streets and on Choctaw Road between State and Washington Streets. Grafton's first post office opened in 1841, but it closed soon afterwards because there were only five residents in Grafton at that time! The first real store opened in 1865 when Jno Hatton opened a general store on Main Street called "The Hawkeye". A wagon train stopped at his store while en route from Fond du Lac to Chicago, Illinois; one day they changed their minds about going any further and bought goods instead, giving rise to the name "Fond du Lac" which means " warehouse" in French! A new paper mill started up near by (a sawmill) and soon two other mills were built: One brick on Slingerland Drive (now Waukesha Boulevard), also known as "The Factory", eventually became a national chain; another brick building on South Water Street became known as "the White Mill". In 1895 local citizens raised money to build an elevator so people could get more work done downtown without having to go out into the cold weather! This led to today's Arena District which contains four buildings - three stores and one restaurant - all built with public funds circa 1975-1978! In 1916 local resident John Pritzker organized a group that bought land north of town for a village – Grafton Village – but it never took off because there wasn't enough support from residents! In 1947 developer George Weigel purchased some land east of town from farmstead owners for what would become North Park Place development including several stores, schools, apartments and executive offices along with much more open space today than ever before thanks to those same donations by George Weigel Jr.? In 1957 Wisconsin senator Joseph McCarthy made headlines when he accused Hollywood star Robert Redford (of being subservient to Moscow) during hearings before Congress; this created statewide interest in McCarthyism which lead many people to donate money towards helping him fight against communism? After much discussion among elected officials including mayor Don Marshall & members of the Board Of Trustees at North Park Place development where many homes had been donated or taken over by developers since then, it was decided that not only did McCarthyism not exist within Grafton limits despite accusations made against individuals here; it also wouldn’t be appropriate or practical given current zoning laws for such protests/investigations taking place within walking distance of school children?! And with that decision made we can once again enjoy living peacefully within our own community surrounded by friendly locals who are eager do help us whenever possible?!

The population was 5,645 at the 2010 census, making it the eighth-smallest town in Wisconsin and one of 14 towns in Green Bay County. Grafton is located on the north shore of Lake Michigan between Racine and Milwaukee. The first Europeans to visit Grafton were French voyageurs who stopped there in 1643 for trade with the local Native Americans. The area now known as Grafton was also home to many American settlers during its early years: David Thompson from Nova Scotia arrived here in 1836 and built a log cabin; John Fitch from Ohio settled here around 1840; George Stephenson brought his locomotive " Liverpool " to the area in 1845; and several other pioneers followed over time including Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), Grover Cleveland (1837-1908), Franklin D. Roosevelt ( Franklin D. Roosevelt) (1913-1945), and Hubert Humphrey (1952-) There are several contributing factors which led to Grafton's growth as an agricultural town during this period: land markets were good due to easy access to water resources, railroad ties became available when railroads were built through rural areas, churches began providing support for farming families, new schools were constructed, and farmers turned their attention to raising livestock rather than growing crops
Grafton was first settled in 1836 by the Potawatomi Indians. The town was named after General George Rogers Clark, who led the American forces that subdued the French in 1763. Grafton growth slowed during the 1840s as new settlers arrived from Illinois and Indiana. In 1851, Grafton became a village when it joined the nearby towns of Racine and Waukesha. By 1860, Grafton had a population of about 100 people. In 1865, Grafton became a town when it merged with Racine and Waukesha to form the Town of Racine and Waukesha. The town's name change again in 1867 when it merged with Hales Corners to become Hales Corners Village.
