A post office called Heineman was established in 1841, and remained in operation until 1865. The first store built within Glendale Township was opened by Wm Hickey on October 26, 1840. In 1863, John Cavanaugh donated land to build a courthouse and jail near present-day Glendale. The court House still stands today as a museum piece and has been used as an event venue since 1978. A school opened in Glendale in 1875 and remain active to this day; it is now known as West Glenwood School District's only high school campus. In 1907, construction began on what would become Superior State Park which surrounds present-day Glendale township and includes much of what is now downtown Green Bay
