The town of Glendale, Wisconsin was founded in 1887 and has been continuously inhabited since then. Glendale is a town in Marinette County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,360 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was platted in 1853 and named for George Glendale, an early settler. The first store in Glendale opened in 1854. A post office was established in 1865, and the town became a city on January 1, 1903. The city was annexed by Milwaukee on May 25, 1907. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and (0.68%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,360 people residing in the town. Of these, 1,898 (or 71%) were White alone; 546 (or 10%) were Black or African American alone; 191 (or 4% of all residents) were Native American; 16 (or 0.7% of all residents) were Asian alone; 8 (or 0.3% of all residents) were Hispanic or Latino of any race; and 362 (or 11% of all residents) were two or more races combined

Glendale, Wisconsin was founded in 1854 by George and Anna Glidden. The town grew quickly due to its location on the Milk River, which supplied a large part of the local population with milk. By 1860, Glendale had a blacksmith shop, two churches, a bank and six businesses. In 1871, the town passed an ordinance forbidding interracial marriage. The ordinance proved effective in preventing discrimination against African American residents until 1949 when it was repealed by the state legislature. In 1907, Glendale became the first village in America to make electric lights available to its citizens. In 1916,glendale received its own post office and began receiving mail from other villages in nearby towns. The outbreak of World War I led to an increase in business for Glendale as war-related production required more labor than local farmers could bring into the market. After the war ended, economic prosperity returned to Glendale as new industries developed in Moline and neighboring towns such as Rock Island and Racine. By 1970,Glendale had over 100 businesses and over 20 post offices serving a population of approximately 2,000 people
Glendale was founded by the Glendale Ledgers in 1858. The paper was first published in Appleton, Wisconsin. In 1861, the paper moved to Glendale and became the Glendale News. In 1865, it merged with the Appleton Tribune and became the Glendale Herald- Tribune. In 1928, it merged with the Milwaukee Sentinel and became the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The paper ceased publication on December 15, 1976.
