Glendale, Wisconsin is a small town located in the central region of Wisconsin. The population was 593 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Janesville-Racine metropolitan area. The town is named after Glendale, Illinois, which was once a greatly populated center for heavy industry in that region. After being abandoned by these businesses, the town became a small farming community and has since seen continual growth and development. Glendale’s economy largely revolves around agriculture and ranching; however, it also maintains some commercial activity including two grocery stores and two banks. The local post office is also one of the most important in the community with its role in serving as an essential link between residents and government services. The townsite was first settled by German immigrants who arrived during the early 1800s. By 1857, Glendale had become quite large with over 100 residents; however, due to lack of land or other resources, it rapidly declined during this time as agricultural production increasingly took precedence over industrialization. This changed beginning in the late 19th century when new oil refineries began to be built in this region; together with new transportation methods such as railroads and highways, this led to increased business opportunities for Glendale businesses which began to thrive again starting in the 1920s thanks to what would later be called “the upswing” period following World War I (1914-1945). A second wave of developers followed during these years which saw further investment into downtown areas including construction of numerous residences (many considered high end), retail outlets, several churches/synagogues (including one that still remains operational today), two professional basketball teams (the original Racine Packers team folded after only three seasons), and much more – all while maintaining a strong sense of identity within the community that persists to this day!

Glendale, Wisconsin is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin that was founded in 1854 as part of the Black Hawk War settlements. The town was named after General James H. Glendening, who fought in the war and won an honorary discharge from the United States Army. In 1875, Glendale became a census-designated place (CDP) when it was included within the Racine County seat. It has since been annexed by the city of Milwaukee. The town was known for its fruit orchards until about 1940, when they were replaced by cornfields because of increased production costs due to changes in farming methods and technology. The community's only grain elevator closed down in 1972; however, local residents continue to produce cornmeal and other mill products using their own equipment today. The population of Glendale peaked at around 100 people in 1950 but has declined over time due to competition from larger towns and cities nearby. However, recent growth has led to a new population increase with around 200 residents now living in Glendale proper and 2 dozen more located within its boundaries annexing since 2000.
At one time, Glendale was a significant community in the area. In 1868, it was platted as the town of Glendale on land that had been donated by A.J. Fenton and his brother-in-law, Samuel Soderquist. The first post office in Glendale opened in 1870. By 1875, the population of Glendale had reached 2,500 residents and it became a village on February 14, 1876 when its charter was granted by the Wisconsin General Assembly. On January 1, 1880, Glendale united with neighboring towns of Hollandale and Menomonee Falls to form a new town named after Colonel John Cranch Post (1819-1892) of the Union Army during the American Civil War. The first store in Glendale was a grocery store operated by Dvorak & Griggs located at 9th and Elm Streets until it closed around 1907 because of lack of business opportunities due to prohibition laws inWisconsin at that time. However, there is evidence that an early church existed inGlendale as early as 1871 when First Presbyterian Church building located at 6th and Elm Streets was dedicated with services conducted there regularly through 1872. During the late 1800s and early 1900s many businesses were established within what is now known as downtownGlendale including banks (First National Bank Building – built 1889), theaters (Grand Opera House – built 1897), department stores ( Sears & Roebuck Building – built 1904), restaurants (Aunt Jemima’s Café – founded 1905), hotels (Sheraton Hotel - built 1911) and more! In 1933, General Motors Corporation moved its manufacturing operations from Flint Michigan to Green Bay Wisconsin under given government inducement for $1 billion dollars which brought much needed jobs to northwestWI during the Great Depression which impacted most communities throughout Wisconsin includingGlendon
