Glendale is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,843 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–West Bend metropolitan area. Glendale has been home to a post office since 1872. The first settler in Glendale was Wm. Gentry who arrived in 1836. He and his family set up a farm on what is now Glendale Drive and built an early log cabin on the current site of the Community House which still stands today. A post office called "Gentry" was established in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The name "Glendale" was chosen by mail from a list of towns available for voting under the new apportionment system which took effect in 1880. At that time, all but one township were located within Douglas County; Glendale lies within Racine County until 1909 when it became part of Green Bay. In 1916, residents of Racine Township (northwest of Glendale) voted to secede from Douglas County and form their own county, Racine County Agricultural Society being formed with this vote as its founding document In 1924, after years of talks between local leaders anditolarians John Muhlenberg (then Racine Mayor) and Harry Sievers (then Superintendent of Highway Administration), the two towns merged into one municipality - Glendale Township - forming what would eventually become known as Green Bay Wis.-Glenncounty

Glendale is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Mississippi River just east of Madison. The population was 1,878 at the 2010 census. The Glendale Dam was built in 1906 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to provide irrigation water for farmers in northwestern Wisconsin and southern Michigan. It is now a popular tourist destination for riverboat rides and picnics. The first permanent settler in Glendale was John Crouch who arrived around 1837 with his family from Maine. He built a cabin on an bluff overlooking the river and became one of the earliest landowners in what would become Glendale. In 1844, he married Sarah Mathers and they started raising crops and cattle on their farm until Sarah's death in 1851. John then married Emma Hodge about 1850 and continued farming until his death in 1907. Their children were: Charles Hodge (1852-1924), Mary Jane Hodge (1855-1938), Annie Ethel Hodge (1857-1943) and John Crouch Jr.(1859-1945). In 1909, James Fenton founded Fenton Canning Company which grew into one of the largest canneries in America during the 20th century. The company supplied glazed jars with pickles, relishes, meats, vegetables, fruits etc., to grocery stores throughout Wisconsin and Michigan as well as other states across America
The city of Glendale, Wisconsin was founded on December 12, 1836 by John A. Daugherty and his wife, Catharine. The town was named for the glen near where it was located. The first post office in Glendale opened on October 15, 1837. In 1848, the city annexed the village of Arlington Heights to its territory. In 1856, the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad reached Glendale through a tunnel under the Menomonee River. This allowed goods and passengers to be transported directly from Chicago to Glendale without having to go through Milwaukee or other stops. The railroad madeGlendale an important community and helped make it a popular place for residents to raise their families. In 1907, the city replaced its wooden stockade with a brick one-story jail which served as both a detention center for criminals and as a police substation. In 1912, the new City Hall was built in downtown Glendale and became home to local government functions such as elections and meetings during that period of time until it was replaced by the current building in 1978. On March 10, 1954, when Interstate 94 entered into Glendale from Wisconson Avenue southbound on exit 169A (now Plank Road), there were no traffic lights at this intersection so travelers had to use what is now known as Indianola Boulevard which led downwind from I-94 until they could cross onto Naper Settlement Road (later renamed Mayflower Boulevard). On that date there were two accidents involving vehicles traveling downwind: one caused by swerving right after hitting a slow car travelling in the opposite direction; another resulted when two trucks drove into each other while both drivers were trying to change lanes on I-94 just south of Indianola Boulevard
