Wisniewski built a log cabin on what would become the north side of town and named it "Germantown." He and his wife Anna Maria built a second cabin nearby which they called "Casa de las Flores". In 1839, German immigrants Johann Balthasar Kapp and Wilhelm Schell founded Kapp & Schell Mercantile Agency on land that now makes up much of south-central GermantOWN. This mercantile business served as one of the early anchors for growth in what would become Germantown. By 1840, there were 11 businesses operating out of two buildings on Main Street: Snively's Store (later known as First National Bank) and Kapp &Schell's Cigar store (later known as Pabst). By 1850, there were over 100 residents living in what is now Germantown; many of these had originated from eastern Prussia or southern Germany during the great migration period that began around 1800 and continued until 1865 when all Germans living east of the Mississippi River were forced to leave by President Abraham Lincoln’s Executive Order 9982. Initiallycurrency exchange services were provided at Snively’s Store but by 1860 this had been replaced by a post office which opened its doors to citizens upon arrival In 1876 an addition to Main Street became home to The Masonic Temple which remained an important part of local life into the 21st century

Germantown was founded by German immigrants in the mid-19th century. The first settlers arrived in 1851 and quickly built a small town on the banks of the Menominee River. The town grew rapidly and by 1875, Germantown had a population of over 1,000 people. Over time, the town developed into a large commercial center and post office. In 1920, Germantown became an incorporated city. During the 1930s, many Germans were displaced during World War II and many of their properties were taken away by American authorities. After the war, many of these properties were given back to the original settlers as part of restitution efforts. Today, Germantown is a cultural and historical center located adjacent to Green Bay Packers Stadium.
Germantown is a village in the town of Germantown, Brown County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. The Village of Germantown was organized on November 3, 1858. The first settler in what is now Germantown was Eli Jenkins. He and his family moved from York County to Brown County in 1837. They built a log cabin near the current site of Germantown on the north side of White Lake. In 1840, they bought 640 acres (248 hectares) of land and named it "Germantown". They brought with them four slaves who worked on their farm until 1865 when all six slaves were freed. In 1871, Samuel Morse donated land for a school and chapel in GermantOWN which became one of the first schools in Brown County. The school building still stands and is used as a museum today. In 1892, the village had its first post office which operated out of Jenkins' cabin until 1896 when a new post office was constructed at the corner of White Street and Main Street. On July 8, 1907, Englewood Township merged into Brown County; however, Englewood Township's police department continued to be incorporated within Brown County until 1909 when that department became part of the new Village of Germantown organization effective November 3rd that year according to local history books published at that time- thanks largely to Mayor John Waddington who lobbied heavily for it! After World War I ended with Treaty Agreements being signed between Great Britain and Americaealing much importance Large amounts were taken away from municipalities so these type changes would not have an impact upon larger towns such as ours...A few years later our own mayor John Waddington ran for re-election against another nameake resident but lost hands down! This would be his last campaign ever!!! Today our very own Mayor Jeffery Kessler takes office having been elected by popular vote 4 years ago this past Wednesday!!!!!!!!!"
