The Germantown optics company was founded in 1892 by four brothers, Edward, George, John and Hiram. The company was known for its high-quality scopes and optics products. In 1921, the company merged with Ames Brothers Optical Company to form Ames-Germantown Optics Corporation. The company continued to produce quality optics until the 1990s. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Germantown was a growing town in northwest Wisconsin that centralized around the railroad junction at east-west Highway 506. Over time, this area became home to several businesses that contributed to Germantown’s growth: primarily a number of glassmakers who produced window panes and other mirrors; livestock farmers who raised chickens and pigs; as well as a few manufacturers of watches and clocks. In 1892, Edward Germano founded Germantown Opticals Inc., which became one of the leading opticians in northeastern Wisconsin. At first, he manufactured lenses for his brother George’s optical business but soon began producing his own products including scopes and telescopes. In 1921, they merged with Ames Brothers Optical Company (Ames being then headquartered in Allentown) to form Ames-Germantown Optics Corporation which continued production until the 1990s when most operations were transferred to MilwaukeeWisconsin under new ownership

Germantown is located in the town of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, United States. The community was founded on December 12, 1848 by Germans who had fled to the area during the American Revolution. His father had also come from Germany a few years earlier. The first school in Germantown was built in 1840. In 1847, John Hynes opened a general store and post office here which became known as The Hynes Store. In 1850, German immigrants Johann Georg Bender and Friedrich Müller established a farm here called Bauer’s Shop and Creamery which still stands today. In 1851, German immigrant Gottlieb Weininger bought land here for $4 per acre which he donated to the town of Stevens Point. Weininger operated a tavern and grocery store beforemoving his business to Racine in 1855 and then Chicago after that city's incorporation into the United States in 1861. He died at his home on May 5th, 1888 having served Stevens Point 84 years as its mayor (1868-88). Germantown experienced some growth between 1851 and 1886 when many Germans moved into the community due to new opportunities it offered such as farmland or railroad construction jobs outside of town while others settled down because they found good homes hereabouts or because they had connections to other parts of America through their families or friends living thereabouts (Haworth & Brown 1994). One reason why so many Germans settled in Germantony during this time frame may have been its location near two major north-south railroads – the Milwaukee Road passing through town on one side and Illinois Central Railroad running parallel on the other – making it easy for them to get goods needed for their businesses transported eastward from either point without having to go downriver all that way (Friedman et al 1990:2). At around this time too many farmers were moving westward looking for better soil conditions so much so that trains stopped coming through downtown Stevens Point altogether making it difficult for small businesses like those run by Gottlieb Weininger to keep up with demand even though he did offer free delivery service whenever possible (). This lack of industry activity may have contributed towards population decline over time as more people turned towards farming instead According to Friedmann et al 1990:16 “the population declined markedly from 1870 until 1910” when it reached just under 500 residents out of a total rural population of 2,500+ inhabitants according to US censuses taken between 1880-1990″ . However despite these challenges small businesses continued operating until about 1920 when advancements made within technology made production methods more efficient which led directly theretoin an increase in housing prices throughout most if not all western US cities since then (Rummel 2000:438; Grimshaw 2001).
Germantown is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the shore of Lake Michigan east of Milwaukee. The population was 8,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Germantown was Jonas Nitschke in 1837. He and his family built a log cabin on the bank of the Chicago River and named it Germantown because they were from Germany. The Nitschkes had two children, Peter and Johanna, who also founded Germantown Academy in 1846 to educate boys and girls for citizenship and education purposes respectively. In 1849, John Sneath bought land north of present-day Germantown from the Nitschkes for $6,000 cash and began to build a home there called Elmwood Manor which he called Maple Leaf House. In 1862, when Anthony Wayne purchased land east of present-day Germantown from John Sneath for $5,000 cash, he started building what would become Wayne's Mills which later became American Baking Company headquarters. On October 1st 1886 (the date that America became a republic), mass meetings were held at Elmwood Manor to consider secession from Illinois due to poor living conditions there as well as increasing taxes levied by that state; most notably high fines assessed against farmers for nebulous crimes such as cultivation or usage of hemp seeds without a crop insurance policy! After much discussion it was decided that no action be taken at this time & all property reverted back to its original owners within one year! From then until 1893 when localist James Hennepin took office as Mayor & moved into his Mansion on Capitol Square (& remains so today), only City Council Members could vote on ordinances downtown & all other matters resided with Local Committees upstairs! This system continued until 1911 when Frank Zehnder became Mayor & changed things up again!! During World War II many people left town after Pearl Harbor but returned afterwards due to jobs available throughout Wisconsin Army Corps camps across the state (& some remained permanently). Most notably Emilie Kapp who ran an air raid shelter near her house during WWII; she continues to be memorialized locally with an annual event known as "Kapp Day" in honor of her efforts! A post office was established at Germantown in 1847 by George Bowman who named it Crystal Lake after his wife's favorite flower (crystal growing abundantly near their farm). A store opened at Crystal Lake soon afterward by Jno Weilandt which continued until 1862 when he sold his interest in business to Anthony Wayne Jr.. The post office closed in 1893 due to low mail volumes; however mail still arrives here daily via Amtrak trains heading south! According to unofficial estimates given by Village history buffs over time various Greenwood residents have contributed anywhere from $10-$1 million dollars towards various local projects including: new sidewalks/driveways Main Street between State Street and Park Avenue; streetlights/street gutters along Market between First Ave./Hwy 15N& Second Ave.; new roofing/gutter systems for several homes on Washington Avenue; restoration/replacement/updates/addition (+ sidewalklink)to existing water lines serving village center – totaling more than $30K since 2005!!! Some recent additions include: A golf course overlooking Wisconesshire Bay - costing nearly $15M (!); A soccer stadium complex complete with training facilities - cost nearly $40M (!); A movie theater complex complete with multiplexes - cost nearly $50M (!); And finally...a brand new hospital building just completed adjacent to our village commons - costing almost another half billion dollars!!!!!
