At that time, farmers in the area were able to use natural resources such as oak trees and maple logs for target practice. They would also build their own Shooting Ranges out of these materials. The first Shooting Range in Germantown was built by Captain William Decker in 1819. The Captain used his property to practice his shooting skills and he also built a House for himself and his Family to live in during this time. This house still stands today and is an important part of the Germantown History Museum. In 1865, General Lew Wallace donated land to the town of Germantown on which they built a Shooting Range with 12 targets located on it. The range was used by both Riflemen and Shotgunners at this time. In 1922, the rifle range was enlarged to 20 targets and again used by both Riflemen and Shotgunners at this time. In 1986, the shotgun range was closed down due to lead poisoning affecting some users but is now open every other Saturday morning from 9am-12pm for children aged 3-14 years old! Today, there are many different sources of funding that allow shooters to maintain their ranges intact such as donations from individuals or businesses or through special events likegun shows or CLUB SHOOTING weekends where all types of shooters can come together!

With this innovation, shooters could now easily find and hit targets from any position within range

Germantown was founded by the Menominee tribe in 1785. It became a town in 1836 and was named for General George Washington's home, Mount Vernon. The area around Germantown had been settled since the time of the French and Indian War.
