All three businesses belonged to different individuals or families who had been involved with target shooting for many years prior to their establishment in Franklin. In addition to these businesses, several other locations throughout town did likewise trade in targets and firearms during this time period including Mr. Halsey's Bowling Alley (later known as The Ballad Inn), Mrs Dyer's House (later known as The Blue ribbon), The Public House (later known as White Eagle), Dr Pepper Works (now part of Walmart), etcetera. These establishments likely functioned independently but shared one common goal - selling targets and firearms to residents of Franklin

Franklin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 10,541 at the 2010 census, making it the 8th largest town in Wisconsin and the 2nd most populous town in Dane County behind Milwaukee. It also makes up part of the Green Bay–Waukesha–Stout metropolitan area. Franklin was first settled by Germans in 1836 and named after Benjamin Franklin, an American statesman who served as Vice President under George Washington and as Secretary of State during James K. Polk's presidency. The area that now makes up Franklin was previously known as White ash land west of Milwaukee because white ash trees were found there early in its history. The name "Franklin" was given to the community by General David Dixon, commandant of Fort Dearborn on Lake Michigan Territory during the Northwest Indian War (1854-1855). In 1835, when a band of Sauk Indians attacked a white settlement near present-day Madison, then part of territorial government, General Dixon ordered his men to drive them from their homes without surrendering any firearms or cattle; he later said that he did so because he believed that white men could not successfully resist Indian raids if they had them weapons themselves In 1836, German settlers began moving into what is now Franklin from Waukesha County along with other German immigrants from New Germany and Old Germany eastward across Wisconsin territory including parts of Iowa and Minnesota where they founded new villages such as West Allis (now Midland), Fond du Lac, Menomonee Falls (now Oshkosh), Racine (now Racine Park), Appleton (now Appleton Hills), Beloit (now Bellevue) and Stevens Point (now Stevens Point Landing). By 1840 there were over 1,000 Germans living in Franklin and more than 100 families farmsteads or small settlements scattered around central WI with dwellings made out of poles covered with strawps or bark while others built huts made out of logs with upstairs bedrooms for male residents and downstairs storage space for female residents overlooking open fields used for cheese production by family herds divided into five milk producing districts according to time period: Beaver Dam District from about 1830 until 1840; La Crosse District from 1840 until 1850; Whitewater District from 1850 until 1860; Green Bay District from 1860 until 1870; Fox River Valley District from 1870 until 1880 In 1847 Governor Julius Beecher issued a proclamation designating certain areas along both sides of the Fox River valley as wild game hunting reserves which allowed European Americans unrestricted access to hunt deer, bear, elk and other large game within those boundaries except on Sundays when all hunters must wear head coverings while outdoors By 1865 all German farms east of Whiteside Creek had been sold off to Englishmen through purchases or sales agreements negotiated between United States authorities under occupation at that time including Colonel John Lenthall who organized frontier transportation systems bringing goods back East via riverboat landing points on Milwaukee shorelines
Franklin, Wisconsin was founded in 1771 by Benjamin Franklin. The city was named after the first president of the United States, George Washington. The population of Franklin reached 100,000 in 1851. The city experienced an economic boom during World War II and became one of the most important centers for manufacturing in America. After the war, the population decreased and Franklin became a small town again.
