Franklin, Wisconsin is located in the northwest corner of Wisconsin and has a rich history with firearms. The area was first inhabited by the Menominee people and the Badger people, who lived there for many years. In 1836, the United States acquired land in what is now Franklin from Sweden through an agreement known as the Louisiana Purchase. This acquisition gave President James K. Polk control over much of what is now east-central Illinois, north-central Indiana, and west-central Minnesota. As part of this arrangement, Polk agreed to sell land to Denmark for $13 million dollars. This purchase provided Polk with acres that he could use to improve his holdings in Illinois andMinnesota as well as build a military base at Fort Snelling on Saint Croix River in Wisconsin Rapids which would be used to supply American forces during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). In 1851, General John Custer was killed near Fort Snelling while fighting against Native Americans south of the river. The action left a deep impact on Franklin where Custer's death inspired many young men to become interested in military service and earn their own means of support through agriculture or mining. A year later, General William Troup led a brigade into battle against Indians at Sand Creek near present day Milwaukee when some men from nearby towns volunteered to fight instead of reporting back home for fear of retribution from their peers or government officials. The battle resulted in more than 50 dead including 10 Ulysses S Grant's commandos who had been sent specifically to stop Troup's advance. Not long after this event took place, Captain George Armstrong Custer himself died while pursuing Native Americans miles northeast of present day Franklin at Battle Creek National Park

Franklin is a small town in the Wisconsin town of El Paso. It is located on the east side of the Mississippi River and it is part of Racine County. The population was 2,948 as of the 2010 census. The racial makeup of Franklin was 96% White, 1% African American, and 0.1% Native American. In terms of ancestry, its residents were primarily English, Irish, German, Scandinavian, and Polish. The first settler in Franklin was Jacob Weisbach who arrived in 1834 from Germany with his family. He built a house on what is now State Street and he named it Weisbach House after his father-in-law who also founded the village hereabouts in 1835. A post office called Weisbach was established in 1838 and remained in operation until 1904. In 1846 John Wirthman moved to Franklin from Menomonie and started to farm land northeast of the village which he named Wirthman Prairie after himself and his brother-in-law Robert Hirschwald (1802-1875). In 1850 John Wirthman married Sarah Lapp (died 1865) daughter of Levi Lapp (1792-1854) a native son of Norway who had immigrated to America at age 15 years old when he settled on Long Island in 1794 with his family. With Sarah Lapp’s help he began to farm this land which eventually became known as “Wirthman” Parkland where they raised cattle until 1840 when they switched to pigs because pork production could be larger scale than cattle farming at that time. From there the family prospered by growing crops such as wheat, corn, potatoes etc., until 1870 when they gave up their piggery for cheese making which continued until 1900. They also operated a milling business here until 1880), an ice cream parlor starting in 1903 (closed 1960), an insurance company starting 1915 ( closed 1974), two churches/synagogues between 1896 and 1912 (one Congregationalist and one Methodist) – both were replaced by Catholic services beginning 1916; one synagogue still stands today – St Thomas Aquinas Church located east off Uptown Avenue; three schools: one public school opened 1902; another first grade school opened 1935; Franklin High Schoolopened 1959; Racine County Technical Collegeopened 1965 From 1870 through 1910 property values increased approximately 50%. This trend continued into subsequent decades as manufacturing declined throughout most North America due to regulatory changes instituted during World War I along with advances made within other sectors such as transportation technology that led to increased productivity across industries including autos manufacturing becoming more automated over time especially following World War II when mass production resumed nationwide although many jobs did not disappear but rather transitioned into new sectors such as information technology or health care
