Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 7,752 at the 2010 census and 6,853 in 2016. It is the county seat for La Crosse County and part of the Milwaukee–Eau Claire metropolitan area. Fond Du Lac is located on the Fox River south of Milwaukee, about 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Green Bay and 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Chicago. The village has a population of 2,500 as of 2016. Fond Du Lac was founded by Germans in 1836 as Fondaenwohl (founded 1811). In 1847 it became part of Racine County; in 1896 it became an independent city after being amalgamated with Eau Claire into that city's new ward. In 1907 it merged with Boyne City to become one municipality; however, this merger was dissolved by an order from the Wisconsin Supreme Court on October 9, 1907 because Boyne City had not adopted a resolution setting forth its plans for future growth within the newly created municipality and instead had chosen to remain separate from Fond Du Lac. In 1917 FondDuLac became a coeducational college town when UW-Madison opened its doors there; but by 1955 all male students had been transferred to UW-Milwaukee and all female students were transferred to UW-Eau Claire. However, this change did not take place until 1968 when both campuses reopened under their original name - University of Wisconsin–Wisconsin–Fox Valley Campus - due to pressure from then-Gov./President Gerald R. Ford who saw double dip when Milwaukee annexed Racine while Eau Claire absorbed Fondaenwohl which made it difficult for him politically to break up these two cities so he could focus more attention on Green Bay which he considered his real homebase since he was elected President three times in four years (the last time being during his first term). As such, although women still did not have full access to many faculties at those universities until 1978 they gradually started achieving parity with men throughout much of those years thanks mainly to Title IX lawsuits brought against various institutions across America perpetrated by feminist activists working inside or outside government bureaucracies seeking public policy changes that would benefit them professionally/cognitively/mathematically/ethically better than their male counterparts at that particular time period(s). The economy largely depends upon manufacturing jobs which are located around transportation equipment manufacturers such as Deere & Co., drum companies Wernher von Braun & Co., bicycle maker Trek Bicycle Corp., toy maker Mattel Inc., fabricated metals producer Hormel Foods Corporation(), agricultural products producer United States Rubber Company (), cheese production company Coneyshack Creamery (), among others (). Additionally there are several service businesses located here including: healthcare provider Mayo Clinic Minnesota Healthcare System (), dog food manufacturer Purina Dogfoods Incorporated (), funeral Home Funeral Directors & Services () among others (). According as per Forbes Magazine’s “America’s Top Place To Work” ranking published in 2018*, Fond Du Lac ranks No. 117th out Of 229U Sates (out Of 1,000) based on employee satisfaction ratings achieved between 2017 and 2019!*

Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin is a town in La Crosse County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,642 at the 2010 census. Fond Du Lac was platted in 1854 by John Leland and J.P. Hickey. It takes its name from the du Lac River which flows through it and other villages to the north and east. The village of Fonda was founded about 1830 by French Canadian immigrants who named their community after a river in Quebec. In 1836, settlers from Michigan arrived in what is now Fond Du Lac and laid out a town on the southern edge of what is today downtown La Crosse. This original town had a post office from 1837 to 1846, but no school or courthouse until 1840 when Reverend Gouverneur Morris built one for $1 per month with his own money. Fonda's first store opened on August 10, 1840, at Fifth Street and Main Avenue. By 1865 there were 12 stores in the Village with a population of 150 – all run by resident farmers or their families themselves. A school was organized in 1845 by Revs. Moran and Birdseye adjacent to where present-day Third Avenue meets Main Street; it served grades 1-12 until 1862 when an addition to the high school permitted students of all ages to attend college level classes starting September 3rd that year; also part of this new educational infrastructure were two churches – Stroudsburg Methodist (held services here) beginning on October 17th 1863 soon followed by First Presbyterian Church (First Congregational). In 1861 local farmer John Wiegand donated land at Seventh Street and Main Avenue for use as a cemetery which served those living within walking distance thereof until 1935 when Fonda Cemetery opened statewide boasting over 2 acres (82 m2) tombstones still extant today! The first interment took place December 5th 1861 under teamsters James Sperling & Abram Clark just south of current day Park Road/Highway I-94 exit 191A! On July 11th 1870 local farmer John Dvorak donated land northeast of contemporary downtown La Crosse for use as an athletic field known then as “Dvorak Park” now home to many businesses including: Applebee's restaurant Dvorak Park became officially called Fond Du Lac Stadium on November 20th 1974 following game between University of Wisconsin–La Crosse Trojans football team representing UW–Lafayette Tigers varsityarsity program
Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin was first settled in 1837. The town was named for the Fountain of Youth, which is located in central Fond Du Lac. In 1854, the town became a city and was renamed Milwaukee.
