Fitchburg is a town in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 2,955 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing–Kalkaska Metropolitan Area. The Fitchburg area was first settled by German immigrants in the late 18th century. By 1868, many of these Germans had moved west to Great Lakes towns such as Chicago and Detroit. In 1871, John Fitch established a flour mill in what is now downtown Fitchburg and began to export wheat flour to other parts of Michigan and Wisconsin. The mill continued operations until 1908. Many of the early settlers in this area were Methodists who founded churches and named their towns after Methodist missionaries or saints who had died in distant lands during that time period (referencing baptismal sites). These Methodism settlements eventually coalesced into denominational congregations which continue to exist today: First Baptist Church - founded 1872; Lutheran Church - organized 1865; Methodist Episcopal Church - organized 1888; Presbyterian Church - organized 1886; CongregationalistChurch - organized 1862-1892; and United Bible Societies Mutual Benefit Society 1889-. This paper will focus on one particular congregation which has been active for more than 100 years: Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (EAMEZ) located on Main Street West in downtown Fitchburg. This church was built between 1861 and 1863 by Reverend Jeremiah Dixon with help from local citizens under the stimulus program offered by President Abraham Lincoln as part of his America's Hope initiative to improve living conditions for all Americans (). As one of only a few black congregations within an entire metropolis when it opened its doors, EAMEZ quickly became known as "the old white man's church." EAMEZ has seen much growth over recent decades: They have added a second building on Market Street East since 2003 (!), they have hosted several weddings here including Barack Obama's wedding in 2009 (!), they are currently renovating their main building onto Elm Street West which should be completed sometime next year (!), they operate a small school here called Emanuel African American School which serves grades pre-kindergarten through 8th grade (); additionally, members from various religious denominations worship together at EAMEZ each week morning () making it an inviting place for everyone regardless of background or denomination ().

Fitchburg, Wisconsin is a town in Wood County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1874 by John Fitch and James Sheppard. Fitchburg is named after Daniel Fitch, a Revolutionary War soldier and namesake of the Delaware River Valley. The first post office in the town was established in 1875. The first store in the town was built by George Wirtz on Main Street in 1876. In 1886, J.C. Stevenson opened a general store on Second Street near the present day Fitchburg High School building. A sawmill and gristmill were also located in Fitchburg at this time. In 1928, the towns of Green Bay and West Allis merger to form Milwaukee County. This left Fitchburg without any municipal services or tax revenue from those municipalities; however, it continued to be part of Wood County until 1984 when it became its own municipality under the new county government structure
Fitchburg, Wisconsin is located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and has a population of over 6,000 residents. The city was founded in 1854 by James G. Fitch and is named after him. The city's first school was built in 1857 and it became a municipally-owned institution in 1893. In 1907, the city passed an ordinance establishing zoning laws that remain in effect to this day. In 1912, the city annexed the neighboring town of North Bend and renamed it Fitchburg annexation
