The history of gun magazines in Fitchburg, Wisconsin goes back to the mid 1800s. The first gun magazine in this community was established in 1872 by a group of men from surrounding towns. This early magazine served as a gathering place for shooting enthusiasts and provided instruction on how to shoot firearms. In 1907, the first annual meeting of the Fitchburg Gun Club was held at the Masonic Lodge. At this meeting, it was decided that there should be a monthly magazine published in the club’s newsletter called “The Rifleman.” The name “The Rifleman” was chosen because it represented accuracy and reliability with rifles. In 1951, the gun club moved its operations to its current location at 5335 South State Street and began publishing an official journal called “Fitchburg Gun Review” which later became known as “Gun News Journal.” That same year, the club became affiliated with Midwest Reloaders Association (MRA), which helped support club activities both physically and financially. In 1976, MRA donated $5,000 towards building/equipment for new publications room within our clubhouse which is now known as Publications Annexe. Since then, we have continue to serve our community by publishing magazines such as “Guns & Ammo Magazine” (1986-present) which focuses on firearm industry news and information; quarterly review journal (2002-present) ; online publication called GURPS Magazines; three-issue subscription special issue series entitled "100% American Made" (2007); two-issue subscription special issue series entitled "1st Amendmentalia." Additionally we offer rifle range rentals through our memberships program; provide educational seminars on various aspects of firearms using different models of firearms over multiple days during each year; offer freemembership for children 5 years old or younger when accompanied by an adult member; provide custom built rifles/ammo systems through our custom rifle builder program; provide consulting services to individuals who are interested in becoming licensed professional gunsmiths through NRA's certified handgun instructor program; offer gift wrap service for holiday gifts

Fitchburg is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the north shore of Lake Michigan approximately 25 miles south of Milwaukee. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. Fitchburg is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. Fitchburg was founded by John and Mary Fitch in 1836 as a small station on the Fox River between Waukesha and Racine. In 1840, they erected a log cabin on what is now State Street and named it after their father, George Washington Fitch. The town prospered due to its location at the mouth of the Fox River and its commerce with both Chicago and points east. In 1854, entrepreneur Solomon Goldsmith donated land to make way for what became Fitchburg Township. In 1892, local farmers met to form a cooperative to raise crops for export into other markets; this led to what would become known as "The Agricultural Experiment Station" (AES). With support from local philanthropist Alfred Pritzker, AES developed new methods for growing crops such as rice and wheat that became staple food items throughout Wisconsin. In 1914-15, AES opened an experimental farm near present-day downtown Fitchburg serving as a model for agricultural research institutions across America In 1954-55, when Interstate 94 was built through central Wisconsin adjacent to town center, much work went into developing exits off I-94 so traffic could flow freely through town while still having access to exits out of town if needed In recent years much redevelopment has taken place in downtown including residential development (frequent moves of residents), new businesses/infrastructure development (new roads/tpws), set back areas around Main Street have been renovated or are being redeveloped further with hopes of creating more open space which would be great for tourism

In 1875, Schofield & Whitney began publication of The Rifleman; this journal would become one of the most influential rifle journals in history. With its wide-ranging coverage including features on target shooting and infantry tactics, The Rifleman helped promote rifle training and shooting among American troops throughout World War I and II.
