Katheryn had two sons with her husband: George Washington Pritzker and Julius Rosenwald Jr.. In 1874, Julius Rosenwald Sr., son of Jakob Rosenwald, bought a tract of land along present-day North Seventh Street and incorporated it as the village of Rosenwald Park in honor of his father's donation which totaled . This convinced other families to move into what would become Fitchburg as well; by 1880, there were over 100 families living in or near Fitchburg proper. By 1900, however, only 15% of residents lived within city limits while 85% resided within rural Cook County boundaries which included most of today’s downtown Fitchburg area including all but one block southward on North Seventh Street between South 1st Street and West Fourth Street where it terminated at State Highway 7 (now Interstate 94). In 1910 Rockville Center emerged as an important transportation hub adjacent to downtown due to its location at exit 12 off I-94 just north of Milwaukee Avenue making it easy for goods arriving by railroad from outside Chicago to be transported through downtown without having to go around Milwaukee Avenue or cross Interstate 94
