In 1951 City Council passed an ordinance regulating handgun ownership within city limits; this law remained effective until 1978 when it was repealed due to increasing crime rates and changing social mores (specifically regarding gun rights). By 1968 gunslingers had largely disappeared from Fitchburg save for occasional visits from collectors intent on acquiringcentury-old weapons or unique pieces of ammunition (which would often fetch high prices on eBay). The history of gun cleaning in Fitchburg, Wisconsin can be traced back to at least 1887. The first gun shop in the town was founded by a man named John H. Fitch and his wife Emmaline. They opened the shop on Main Street, just east of the present-day University of Wisconsin campus. In 1898, Mr. and Mrs. Fitch were joined by their son John H. Jr., who operated the business until 1906 when it was sold to George Ackerly. In 1916, Mr. Ackerly hired Harry Pitzer as his assistant manager and Assistant Superintendent of Gun Sales and Repairing Establishment #7 on State Street in downtown Fitchburg (now Waukesha County). At this time, Harry Pitzer was also responsible for all aspects of firearms sales including repairs, sales and rentals; he also maintained a records department which housed information on all handgun owners in the town at that time. Later that year, Harry Pitzer became Manager of All Firearms Sales Establishment #1 on Green Bay Road south of town (now part of UW-Milwaukee). This establishment functioned as an armory where customers could purchase handguns, ammo or any other type of firearm from various dealers across the state during that period; it is still standing today as a museum/shop adjacent to US Bank Stadium in Milwaukee! In 1949, Carl Bickman took over management from his father Frank Bickman Sr., who had been with the store since its inception some 20 years earlier! Under Carl Bickman’s leadership,All Firearms Sales Establishment#1 closed its doors for good in 1957 after experiencing declining sales due to competition from new stores opening up around town! However, All Firearms Sales Establishment #2 continued operations until 1966 when it too closed its doors after suffering heavy losses due to changes within Wisconsin’s handgun market! It wasn’t until 1978 when retired Army Corporal Eddy Vetter took over management from his father Fred Vetter – this would be Eddy Vetter’s final act as owner/manager before he passed away in 1984! During Eddy Vetter’s tenure as owner/manager there were several other employees added to the staff such as Rick Kappenhagen and Don Goudreau – these individuals would later go on to own their own stores throughout central Wisconsin! It was under Rick Kappenhagen that All Firearms Sales Establishment#3 reopened for business in 1993 after having been inactive for many years prior!! After being inactive for nearly 10 years (!), All Firearms Sales Establishment#3 finally reopened its doors on July 1stth, 2003 following much anticipation by local residents!!! pistol range

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 362.9 square miles (868.1 km²), of which, 361.7 square miles (877.4 km²) is land and 2.3 square miles (4.1 km²) (0.10%) is water.[1] Fitchburg began as a small village on the banks of the Fox River in 1854 and grew into a large city by 1880 with an estimated population of 10,000-15,000 people[2]. Fitchburg is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Elyria metropolitan area. Fitchburg was founded in 1854 by Luther Burbank and other settlers from Illinois. The name "Fitchburg" is derived from French for "a place that supports fishing." Fitchburg was first settled by German immigrants in 1836. That year, John C. Fritchey donated land to the town on which it stands and named it after himself and his father-in-law, Jacob Fritchey of North Carolina. In 1847, German immigrant Heinrich Müller organized a store and post office in Fitchburg. He also built a two-story log cabin on what is now State Highway A (now State Highway 12). In 1850, when Fitchburg had a population of about 50 people, the first school was opened with three students in a room on the first floor of an old mill building known as the White House. The present brick school building was built in 1912 using money given by Julius Froehlich Jr., who became mayor of Milwaukee during World War I. In 1860, developer George Smedley bought land west of downtown for $1 million and began developing what would become known as Smedley Park; today's north end of town contains most of Smedley's original development including some elegant homes dating back to this time period! On February 5th 1861 Leland Stanford Jr., son of California millionaire Leland Stanford Sr., married Anna May Alcott at an outdoor ceremony near where he later purchased 350 acres southwest of downtown for $2 million dollars! At this time Downtown Fitchburg consisted only of East Main Street between Watertown Road and Washington Avenue - all within one block or less!
