Cudahy was platted on April 14, 1854 by Denton & Company as a village on the east bank of the river Paddlebrook about three miles west of Greenfield. Cudahy is a town in the Iron County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The name Cudahy was given to the community by General George Cadahy during his military campaigns in 1855 and 1856 in this region of Wisconsin. The first post office in Cudahy was established on July 12, 1854, with Wm. Hite as its first receiver. The present post office building was built in 1951. In 1860, John Fenton opened a general store here which became one of the leading stores in the community until it closed its doors in 1978. Other early businesses include A&P grocery stores (opened 1915), Black & Decker batteries (opened 1922), and First National Bank (opened 1924). In 1955, George Cadahy donated land to create a park that would eventually become known as Cadahy Park. This gift has been used for Recreational Trails including Model Railroad Museum Train rides and more recently for grasslands hosting concerts and other public events throughout summer months when weather permits
