Cudahy is a town in Dunn County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,063 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The Cudahy post office was established in 1868, and was discontinued in 1967. The current post office was established in 1984. The town first came into being when the Dakota Territory was organized on January 24, 1867. The name of the township originates from Dutch words meaning "place where water flows". At first it consisted of only a couple of hundred people and their families living along the river banks near present day Cudahy Elementary School and Park Service Administration Building. As time passed more residents were added to what would become known as "the Township", which stretched to encompass all but modern-day Hinsdale (now Waukesha) County to its south and east before terminating at its southern border with Steinbach (now Racine). One of the earliest settlers in what would become Cudahy was John Moyer who arrived there on October 15, 1868 from his farm near North Bend, Minnesota via steamboat from Duluth. Moyer served as justice of peace for Dunn County for one term during 1869-1870 and again from 1871-1872; he also served as delegate to the state constitutional convention that summer in Minneapolis%. As time went on other pioneers followed suit, including Elias Howe who founded a gristmill here on December 8th, 1870; Elijah Bicknell who purchased land north ofpresent day Town Hall on February 3rd, 1871; James Fenton who built a sawmill west of present day duck lake on March 1st; George Pugh who acquired land east of present day Middle Road between White River and Big Branch creeks on April 7th; Lewis Kapp who settled near Black Hawk Creek June 25th; Augustus Decker located northwest corner lot #2 November 12th; John Fenton died suddenly while plowing his father's field northeast outside Centerburg July 10th leaving behind five children: Augustus Decker 2nd oldest son born December 4th 1865 Alexanthus Decker 3rd youngest son born January 6th1867 William Dickey 4th youngest son born May 11th1869 vernon Riddle 5TH child born about 1880 The first store opened up by John Fenton at 309 South East Ave., now called Goodrich’s Hardware Store & Auctioneer Shop located just off West Side Highway across street from High school today. That store operated until 1903 when it burned down leaving only an old foundation still standing today! A new store building erected by JF Enterprises Incorporated - later renamed Goodrich’s Hardware Store - opened up Nov 1954 inside then high school main stage door! In early 1956 they moved out due to fire hazard! This store continued service until they closed shop permanently Jan 1957!! All profits donated back into community fund thru local Action Committee!!! Nowadays this building serves as Present Day Community Library!!! On July 9 1888 Cyrus Morse delivered an address entitled "A Pioneer Address" at which he outlined some basic facts about life within pioneer society within this earlyWisconsin community then known as Cudahy."Morse began by stating that '[t]he ways are hard going...but we must not forget our ancestry or our traditions'. He went on to say that '[t]here can never be too much loyalty or love among pioneer brothers', adding 'we should work together for common good' ensure progressiveness for future generations.'He concluded his speech by asking those gathered whether or not they shared these same values.'This may seem like quite an abstract concept today but when you think about it back then it meant everything!'Cyrus Morse's address elevated Cudahy above mere village status and helped forge relationships between friends.'"

The town's history can be traced back to 1836, when settlers arrived in what is now Cudahy from Illinois and Ohio. They began construction on a gristmill that would become known as the "Old Mill". The mill continued to operate until 1915. In 1911, a post office was established in Cudahy and remained in operation until 1967. In 1916, a school was built adjacent to the Old Mill and remains in use today. The school has been able to continue providing education for residents since it was first built. In addition to its educational programs, Cudahy also contains several businesses that are important to its economy. These businesses include an insurance company (1931), a bank (1948), and an agricultural dealership (2005). Overall, Cudahy has played an important role within Wisconsin history and continues to play an important role today.
Cudahy was founded in 1847 by John Cudahy and his wife, Anna. The town was named after John’s great grandfather, Cudahy of Ireland. In the early 1800s, the area around present-day Cudahy was part of the Sauk County seat. When Wisconsin became a state in 1848, Sauk County merged with Racine County to form Wisconsin’s third county.
