It operated for one year before being moved to its present location at the junction of Brown Road and Elm Street. In 1886 the village of East Grafton merged with Cudahy; however, this merger did not take place until 1908 due to disagreements between the two communities over property titles and boundary changes among other issues. In 1916 the government of Door County created a new district within that county named after John Fenton including portions of what are now Door County east of Highway 12 and west of Highway 17 which were part of East Grafton when it merged with Cudahy; this area became known as South Grafton when that district was created. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land.
