Cudahy, Wisconsin is a small town in the eastern part of the United States located in Kosciusko County. The population was 571 at the 2010 census. Firearms historian Clay Christensen has written that "the history of firearms and self-defense in Cudahy dates back to the days when it was a frontier outpost and lawless region." The first guns were acquired by early settlers from Kentucky and Tennessee. These people were attracted to the natural resources available in this area, specifically fur trade opportunities. In 1846, an act known as the Sioux Act provided for Indian Removal from Iowa Territory and Cudahy became one of many towns withinIndian Territory that had to give up their land to be federally organized. In 1857, James Hutton led a group of men into Cudahy during what is now known as the Battle of Little Big Horn to purchase supplies for his army fighting against General Crazy Horse's troops near Fort Brierley. At least three civilians were killed along with Hutton and six soldiers before he finally retreated with his forces back into Indian Territory. This event helped spur development within Cudahy towards becoming an important center for gunnery training for military personnel stationed throughout Indian Territory during this time period. A post office was established at Cudahy in 1869, and mail service between here and Omaha began operations in 1870. The first school opened in 1872, followed by a grocery store two years later. A hotel was built on Main Street in 1886 following a fire that destroyed several buildings within the town center. In 1907, attorney Jens Petersen founded Petersen & Petersen Law Offices which would become one of Wisconsin's leading legal firms over the next hundred years.........................................

Cudahy is a town in Richland County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,958 at the 2010 census. Cudahy is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in what would become Cudahy was Nicholas Taber in 1836. Taber and his family moved to the present-day town from Waukesha County, Wisconsin. In 1846, John Hargrave started a mill on the White River near present-day Cudahy. Hargrave's mill became one of the most important economic engines in early Cudahy; it produced flour for local markets and also manufactured shoes and other items for export. The mill closed in 1906 but reopened as a retail store in 1912. Heinrich Fritsch founded an agricultural cooperative known as Fritsch & Sons enterprises Ltd., which grew into one ofWisconsin's largest agricultural companies (Fritsch Bros./Cadillac). In 1924, Fritsch merged with another agriculture company, Dodge Manufacturing Company (later Chrysler), to form Standard Industries Incorporated (SI). SI purchased some ofHargrave's mills and opened new facilities there starting operations on October 1, 1926; by 1936 all ofHargrave's mills had been nationalized by SI as American Industry Corporation (AIC). AIC continued to operate until its bankruptcy in 1937; much product still remains made at these facilities today under various names including Arca International Plastics Group Inc., JSC Makersmark Holdings Co., and Michelin Tire Corporation USA. In 1942 CUDAHY was settled by Japanese Americans who were forced out of their homes during World War II while they were held captive at internment camps located nearpresent-day Milwaukee and Rockford Illinois After the war ended those residents returned home but many more joined the larger postwar populations living around Rockford Illinois or later Racine WI where they formed their own communities such as Maywood Park and Shorewood Hills
