At that time, many people who lived in the town enjoyed taking their firearms and hunting targets out on the open range. The first target holders were made from wood or cane. Over time, more and more armory-quality materials were used to make these devices. Today, Shooting Target Holders are a common sight in most gun stores across the United States. One of the earliest Shooters’ Targets in Chippewa Falls was built by Mr. John Harriman in 1892. It was located at 448 W State Street just north of what is now Old Main University campus. This structure served as a training ground for local riflemen and artillery officers during World War 1. In 1922, Mr. Harriman sold his interest in the business to Mr., Willard Laddahl who continued it until his death in 1949. From then until 1978, it was run by Mrs., Helen Hardesty Laddahl who also served asdirector from 1951-1978 In 1978, Mrs., Helen Hardesty Laddahl passed away leaving her business to her son-in-law Rick Hardesty Jr.. Rick started trading as Shooting Target Hire Corporation with his father’s old shop space on North First street east of downtown Chippewa Falls until 1984 when he reopened the original store at 446 North First Street which still stands today Rick has been running this store ever since and it currently employs over 50 people In 1986 RickHardesty Jr.(the current owner) opened up another store next door called “The Range” which functioned as both a testing ground for new products and an overflow room for customers when Rick Sr.(the previous owner) couldn’t come into work because he had surgery scheduled . The Range closed down after only one year due to economic reasons but reopened again two years later under new ownership (it is currently being leased out) The Range reopened under new ownership due to its location within easy walking distance of all customer services including employees . It has been our goal to keep this store active & running like it did whenRick Sr.(the previous owner) owned it Since opening up shop back in 2004 we have added several new items such as a recoil pad for those that want one (we also carry various otherTarget Holder accessories ) As well as adding a few hundred additional targets per year All told we have shot tens of thousands of targets here at The Range over the years! Someof our famous clients include President George Bush (whose son White House Press Secretary Jay Carney shoots targets out there), comedian Rob Lowe(who uses them for practice while performing standup), Hugh Hefner(owner/operator/manager Of Playboy Magazine), actor Tom Selleck(former host of CBS soap opera Days Of Our Lives), Governor Scott Walker (of Wisconsin) among others

Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin is a small city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the capital of Chippewa County. The population was 9,812 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest city in Wisconsin by population and has the second-smallest land area after Milwaukee. The name "Chippewa" (creek) is derived from Ojibwe, which means "watercourse." The first Europeans to visit Chippewa Falls were French voyageurs in 1779, who named it Pointe du Lac because they could find no other identifying landmark on its shoreline. In 1814, United States troops under General John Custer number 5th Infantry Regiment camped at what today is known as Chippewa Falls for three weeks while preparations were made for their expedition into Canada that would lead to the Battle of Little Bighorn seven years later. In 1835, an Act of Congress authorized erection of a public building at Chippewa Falls to commemorate American victory over Great Britain during the Third Anglo-American War (1812-1815). Construction began on what became known as Government House in 1836 and was completed two years later. The town's first post office opened in 1840 with Waukesha County as its address. The present day City Hall Building was erected in 1956 and replaced an earlier structure which had been destroyed by fire a few years prior. On July 1, 1861, following results of the American Civil War Preliminary Listing process conducted by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton under authority vested in him by President Abraham Lincoln due to his responsibility for military affairs within Kansas Territory (now Oklahoma), Chippewa Falls became part of Dakota Territory under jurisdiction of Ulysses S. Grant; however local citizens voted overwhelmingly not to secede from Dakota Territory until November 3rd when they did so through proclamation issued by Territorial Governor James Fenton pursuant to Section 8(b)1)of the Organic Laws Of Dakota Territory January 12th 1862: "That all white men living within this territory or any part thereof may be compelled to take up arms against their government." This action effectively ended white control over Chippewa Falls municipally and socially until well into the 20th century when black residents reemerged following World War II and eventually took complete control beginning with passage of Constitutional Amendments establishing full political autonomy for African Americans within their community on April 14th, 1961 constituting chippedwawamania@comcastnet
