Cedarburg, Wisconsin is a small town in the United States located in the state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,871 at the 2010 census. Cedarburg is part of the Waukesha–WisconSawyer metropolitan area. The community was named for Cedar Creek in nearby Kaukauna County. The first people to live here were the Menominee who arrived from Canada around 1800. They built wigwams on an island in Cedar Creek and raised Indian corn and potatoes. A post office called Cedarburg was established in 1851, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1892, a sawmill and gristmill were erected here by contractor John Halsey; they continued operating until shutdowns in 1954 and 1958 respectively. The town site now includes several shops, restaurants, and a park that encompasses . In 1906, Cedarburg had 1 store & 2 blacksmiths; however this increased to 4 stores by 1912 when a water tower was erected & 2 more blacksmith shops added thereafter (one being added as early as 1910). In 1916 there were 11 businesses with over $10K payroll; however this number decreased by half during World War II due to wartime restrictions on trade. There are only 4 businesses left today including one grocery store that opened after prohibition ended & 2 churches which remain functioning despite recent fire damage: First Baptist Church (1921) & Methodist Church (1985). After years of decline many residents voted to end their incorporation into Waukesha County effective January 1st 1969 – but this vote failed 6-1-1 along party lines (the only incorporated municipality within Waukesha County at that time).[2] Today much of what once constituted downtown has been redeveloped into new housing developments while mainstay Main Street remains virtually untouched with several historic storefronts remaining intact such as the original post office building which still stands vacant (& serves as a museum), local favorite “The Old Mill” restaurant/bar/cafeteria where lunchtime regulars can still be seen Monoghanians sitting on steps outside enjoying their meal or playing games like checkers or dominos inside since 1975 (!), as well as many other interesting buildings including an old high school that may also have been abandoned long ago (& serving now merely as storage ground for some commercial property nearby),& lastly its namesake creek still popular for swimming (& fishing). Despite these challenges downtown Cedarburg has experienced some growth with 3 new bars/restaurants opening up recently alone giving hope for revitalization yet again!

Cedarburg is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 9,253 at the 2010 census, making it the second most populous town in Wisconsin after Milwaukee. Cedarburg is located along the Fox River, about 30 miles (48 km) north of Green Bay and 50 miles (80 km) south of Chicago. The first permanent settler in what would become Cedarburg was John Laughlin, who arrived in 1836. Laughlin began trading with Indians and selling goods from his farmstead on theFox River. He named his settlement Cedar Rapids after nearby Cedar Creek, which he crossed near his property on horseback to reach his landowning family's other holdings further upstream on the river. In 1842, Norwegian immigrant Ole Nelson founded a store here, completing one of the earliest commercial enterprises in this area. In 1860, David Satterwhite became one of two men to purchase all of present-day Cedarburg from John Laughlin for $10 per share; this made him one of only two Swedes living within five miles (8 km) of Green Bay at that time. Satterwhite had been born in1821 in Smaland County near Stockholm Municipality – then part of Sweden – and immigrated to America when he was just eighteen years old during the 1830s to join his brother Larsgaard and participate politically in endeavors associated with Swedish immigrants throughout Minnesota Territory before settling permanently northward into Dakota Territory where he eventually became a general practitioner and civic leader during North Dakota's early days as an American statehood movement territory loyal to both United States and Great Britain possessions respectively following their respective independence from Denmark–Norway on 11 October 1876). David Satterwhite also developed a successful business interests here including lumbering; grain elevator production; real estate development; sonoran grazing; dairy farming; fiber manufacturing until its closure by Iowa-based International Harvester Company circa 1973 due largely to increased competition emanating from those same industries elsewhere within Midwest United States amid continuing technological advances regarding transportation methods whereby goods now could be shipped more cheaply by air than by land…. For over seventy years thereafter IHC continued operations adjacent to residential streets now lined with high school graduates’ houses raising families while IHC employed thousands more workers directly or indirectly through its affiliate companies across many different trades/professions providing good-paying jobs for people who wanted them and helped put our community back on track once again….. To date IHC has not ceased operations but has undergone several transformations including being relocated several times due both physical changes such as location away from major waterways etc., as well as various types of renovation/rehabilitation costing millions more than originally budgeted especially given today’s global economy….. Today IHC still stands tall despite major renovations/rehabilitation costs totaling nearly $100 million dollars even though some parts have aged quite significantly since original construction………IHCA continues serving our community proudly………….. Cedar burg is known for its rich history dating back over 100 years! One example is David Satterwhite who started out small but grew into oneofthe most successful businessmen within their community! He also contributed greatlytoearning money that has helped keep local businesses alive AND help improve lifequalityfor residents
