Cedarburg, Wisconsin is a small town in the state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,567 at the 2010 census. Cedarburg is located in the Driftless Area of central Wisconsin. It is part of the Nicolet County seat and is considered to be a bedroom community due to its close proximity to Milwaukee. The area that would become Cedarburg was first settled by Germans in 1847 and was named for German immigrants who had arrived there a year earlier. In 1854, the community was incorporated as a village and it remained so until its incorporation as a town in 1907. At that time, Cedarburg's population numbered only 2 people. The growth of Cedarburg began quickly after its incorporation into a town, with construction of roads and businesses followed soon thereafter. By 1930, Cedarburg had reached its current size with 9 businesses and 21 residents. During World War II, much progress was made to improve life in postwar Cedarburg while also helping to support war efforts. In 1948, when the United States became an independent country, Cedarberg became part of what would be known as the United States Military Districts (USMDs). This change provided opportunities for both economic development and military activity which continue to this day; one result being increased business activity on main streets throughout town today. Today, despite some challenges faced by the economy such as declining manufacturing jobs withintown limits, overall economic stability has been maintained thanks to strong tourism industryactivity coupled with steady job growth in recent years for those associated with local businesses directly or indirectly related thereto including service providers ( welding shops etc.), health care services (nurse Practicioners), retail establishments (Fruit Emporium etc.)and other professional/commercial employers not typically found within smaller communities across North America or Europe where density limits their reach1

Cedarburg is a city in the Ozaukee County of Wisconsin, United States. The population was 33,857 at the 2010 census. Cedarburg was founded in 1852 by Peter Cramer and his wife MaryAnn Cramer. It became a borough in 1906 and then a city in 1959. Cedarburg is the county seat of Ozaukee County. The first people to live in what is now Cedarburg were two brothers, David and Solomon Cramer, who made their home on the land that would become Cedarburg on Christmas Eve, 1851. They started a small store there and began to trade goods with other settlers nearby. In 1854, they erected the first local schoolhouse which remains standing today as part of Elm Street Elementary School District #1's history curriculum. On December 12th of that year, under the leadership of David Cramer and Solomon’s son-in-law John Dorman, Cedarburg voted to incorporate as a town under the name “Cedarburgh”. David Cramer served as its first Mayor from January 1st until his death on May 3rd of that year; he was succeeded by his brother Solomon who served until his death on November 25th of 1865. From 1865 through 1870, Cedarburg underwent several incarnations such as “Cedarburgh Heights” before becoming again an incorporated town once more on October 10th 1870 under its present name: “Cedarburg”! In 1907–1908 (the same year that rival Dubuque gained city status), much progress was made within Cedarburgh when new brick buildings were constructed including Permanent Municipal Auditorium/Library (later renamed The Joe Gibbs Library) which still stands today across Elm Street from City Hall; Community Service Building (now known as Elm Street Business Center); Masonic Temple; First Baptist Church – now known as First Methodist Episcopal Church – all located along Second Avenue between Park Drive and Seminary Road; and finally Park Place where Birchwood Golf Course used to be located before it was annexed into Dubuque in 1963! During World War II many industries took root within Cedarburg such as shipbuilding and aircraft manufacturing due to wartime demand for building materials such as wood pulp products needed for war planes or tanks etc.; these operations ceased after hostilities ended but have been resurrected at various points throughout recent years thanks to advances technology! Additionally during this time many residents left for military service or better opportunities outside America but also contributed significantly to community growth via participation in civic organizations like The Elks Lodge #662 (today's Elks Club #1426), Chamber Of Commerce #521 (now known as Waukesha Chamber Of Commerce), Boy Scout Troop 527 & Girl Scout troop 707 (now known Assemblies Of Men & Women). After World War II came economic hard times with few major employers remaining within town limits while downtown business districts rapidly declined; however some key businesses did manage to reopen during this time including Park Place Hardware Store (#723), GASOLINE COAL FACTORY (#724), LABORATORY OF AMERICAN STOCKYARD PRODUCTS INC.#725&27(later AIG Petroleum Products Inc.), KENNETH MCGUIRE'S HOTEL(&RESTAURANT) & BARNACLE HOSPITAL(&RESTAURANT) among others! Finally beginning around 1980 things began slowly recovering with several new businesses moving into downtown during this time including JAMES WILSON REALTY COMPANY (#726), PETER SCHMIDT'S DRESSING AND ACCESSORY SHOP(#727) & SEAN McGREGOR'S CLOTHING STORES INC.#728)! This period marked both improvements for downtown with more restaurants opening up along 2nd Avenue between Park Drive & Seminary Road while also yielding notable successes likeRebuilding Downtown Bridge Company which reopened after being shut down numerous times (&reopened back up at its old location just south of 2nd Ave.)& succeeding developers purchasing extensive property eastward along 3rd Avenue between Walnut Creek Boulevard & Southgate Road (&renamed The Wexner Group*)& finally Sears Holdings Corporation achieving national notoriety when they opened their massive assembly plant adjacent to I-294 near Racine making them one of the most significant retail tenants ever encountered within our community*(*For more information about this particular movement see "Downtown revival: What happened?" below.)
Cedarburg was originally a small town in the eastern corner of the state of Wisconsin. It began to grow around 1855 when a group of men, led by Captain George H. Cedarburg, founded Cedarburg Township. The town was named after Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which was then the largest city in America and home to over 150,000 people. The townsite was first registered with the territorial government on December 10, 1855. On November 3, 1857, Cedarburg became a part of the newly organized Wisconsin Territory. In 1862, it became an incorporated village and on October 15th of that year it changed its name to Cedarburg Township. The first mayor and Board of Trustees were elected on January 1st of 1863. In 1865, the township received its own court house and jail which stood until 1924 when it was replaced by the current building located at 612 W Main Street. During World War II (1939-1945), Cedarburg served as both an airfield and munitions storage depot for ammunition manufacturers in nearby Racine County. The population of Cedarburg peaked at about 609 people in 1940 but declined steadily to 398 by 1950; however, it increased slightly to 431 residents by 1960 before declining again through 1970 as a result of closure of several businesses within the community including a grocery store and post office closed down along with all other local institutions during that time period including school closures which have continued sporadically throughout recent decades leaving little impact on overall population growth or decline over that time period). However during the time period from 2010-2015 there has been slight albeit positive growth (+2% annualrate) due largely to annexations (new settlements adjacent to) neighboring communities into larger municipalities resulting in more active transportation connections between those communities enhancing economic development opportunities for those areas while also supporting public education opportunities within those neighboring municipalities resulting in overall population growth rates being much higher than average
