Cedarburg, Wisconsin is known for its manufacturing plants that produce firearms and ammunition. Cedarburg, Wisconsin is a small town in the southern part of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 8,651 at the 2010 census. Cedarburg is located in the central part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area and is bordered by Racine to the south, Waukesha to the north, and Ozaukee to the east. The first settlers in Cedarburg were Dutch immigrants who arrived in 1795. They built a log cabin on what is now State Highway 9 near present-day Cedarburg High School. The first post office was established in 1809, and was called "Cedarburgh." It was moved to its current location about one mile south of where it currently stands in 1892 when a new post office building was constructed on land then owned by John Aileron. The first schoolhouse in Cedarburg was built around 1800 by Nicholas Cresswell and his wife Anna using materials they had brought over from Holland. It served as a school until 1802 when it burned down due to a fire that started inside the building. A new schoolhouse was erected around 1814 by Michael Kieft and converted into an tavern between 1834 and 1840 by Nathan Sauerbach. It then became used as an academy until 1870 when it burned down again due to arsonist activity. A second schoolhouse was erected about 1850 by Elias Hildebrandt and served as both a public school (1851–57) and private academy (1858–70). In 1915, two schools were combined into one structure which still serves as both public schools today: One becomes known as Southside Elementary School while another continues under its original name (East Side High School). In 1947, Cedarburg Senior High School opened which became known as Southside Middle School after it merged with East Side Junior High School; this name remains current today (2006). In 1924, Lutheran pastor August Becker founded Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church serving residents of nearby Mount Pleasant Township; this church would later become known as Immaculate Conception Parish - Cedarburg which remains active today (#2 on our list). In 1961, Stroudsburg resident Edith Kapp donated $1 million for construction of Our Lady Of Lourdes Cathedral which serves those living within its boundaries (#3 on our list).
