Cedarburg, Wisconsin was founded in 1851 by George and Anna Ladd. The Ladds were the first white people to live in Cedarburg and they built a log cabin on their farm. The first gun barrel that was shot in Cedarburg was made by John Haggerty. In 1859, the Ladds donated land to the city of Cedarburg for use as a park. The city also bought a cannon from the Ladds and put it in the park. In 1893, the city of Cedarburg merged with the town of Appleton to form one large City of Appleton.
