Caledonia, Wisconsin is a small town in the southern portion of the state of Wisconsin. The population was 704 at the 2000 census. It is located about 20 miles (32 km) south of Milwaukee and 40 miles (64 km) north of Green Bay. The first gun case in Caledonia was built by George Wickersham in 1874. The first shooting incident that took place here occurred on October 10, 1875 when five men were shot at a party by two gunmen who had infiltrated the home unnoticed. The second rifle case to be constructed in Caledonia was erected by J. H. Frye in 1895. One such rifle case belonged to Edith Mosely and her husband Harry Mosely and held six rifles including two Model 1897s which were made specially for this event by Blackford & Sons Firearms Company Ltd., Edinburgh, Scotland In 1916, four cases were erected which held shotguns belonging to local farmers who along with other farmers across the state gathered to hold an NRA convention at the county fairgrounds in Racine, WI one such shotgun case belonged to Mrs Gertrude Heineman from Menomonee Falls A total of twelve cases have been constructed since 1911 totalling 188 firearms including thirty-six rifles and forty shotguns

Caledonia, Wisconsin is a small town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 584 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Eau Claire Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located on the eastern edge of Door County and is bordered by Manitowoc to the north and east, Racine to the south and west, and Appleton to the northwest. The village of Caledonia was platted in 1857 by John Pemberton and John Merrill as a farmstead on land that had been donated by General David Dixon. The Aiken Manufacturing Company became one of Wisconsin's leading manufacturers until it went out of business in 1907. The last remaining Aiken Manufacturing Company property still stands today at 711 Wabash Avenue in Caledonia. In 1865, Isaac Ladd moved from Green Bay to start his own grocery store here which would become one of Wisconsin's most successful businesses for many years. Ladd's Grocery opened its doors on North Main Street just off Wabash Avenue on October 1st 1865 and quickly became known as “the Model Store” due to its high-quality product lines and innovative design features including its own bakery which pioneered what would become known as " crumble ", a type of butter that has since been replaced by baking powder . In 1902, Julius Rosenwald bought 100 acres (40 ha) adjacent to Ladd's Grocery for $5200 dollars which he used for his Rosenwald Paper Mill . After several years of construction work starting in 1905-1907 (including a new paper millrace), Rosenwald's Paper Mill finally came into operation during 1915-1916 under the name American Paper Co., Inc.. In 1927 American Paper merged with other paper companies forming the National Bank Of Commerce whose headquarters remain today at 625 N State St., across from Kohl’s Department Store

The population reached two thousand by 1897 and four thousand by 1907. In 1948, Caledonia became a Rural Municipality with a total population of six hundred seventy-four people. On January 1, 1959, the Rural Municipality merged with the City of Milwaukee to form a new city called Milwaukee County.
