Caledonia is a small town located in the center of Wisconsin. It is home to about 7,000 people and it has a rich history that goes back to the early 1800s. Caledonia was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1838. The town grew quickly, and by 1850, it had a population of over 1,500. Caledonia was initially known as Hagaardaalen (the farmstead at Hagaard). In 1855, the town name was changed to Caledonia after Scottish explorer James Hector Caledonius Macdonald. The village of Caledonia originally consisted of just 10 homes. By 1880, however, there were over 100 residents in the village and surrounding ranchlands. By 1890, there were also three schools inCaledoniaprovince - one for boys and girls, one for adults only, and one for orphans - making it one of the most vibrant towns in northwestern Wisconsin. The town's economy was based on agriculture until the late 19th century when steel production began to boom in Wisconsin. Steelworkers built several factories inCal edonia during this time including McCormick & Company's first plant which opened in 1907; Pohlman & Sons' first plant which opened in 1911; and United States Steel Corporation's second plant which opened in 1916-17. After World War II endediencedumber production declined slightly but nonetheless benefited from technological advances such as automated welding techniques that made produced more consistent products at lower costs than manual labor could ever manage alone. This growth ledto increased competition among local businesses for workers with limited job security; however,Cal edoniaturned out to be an especially strong community economically throughout much of its history because its citizenswere able to build their own businesses rather than relying on outside sourcesof support or assistance

Caledonia, Wisconsin is a small town in the Ozaukee County of Wisconsin. The population was 2,878 at the 2010 census. It lies on the shore of Lake Michigan east of Milwaukee and north of Green Bay. The initial settlement in Caledonia was made by George Hennepin in 1836 as a result of his purchase from the Potawatomi people. The name "Caledonia" derived from one of his original land grants. In 1856, James Fenton purchased land in what is now Caledonia and built a sawmill there; it became known as Fenton's Mill. In 1893, J.B. Bickerton purchased additional land east of Fenton's Mill and founded Caledonia Township; it became part of Milwaukee on December 14th, 1896. The first post office at Caledonia was established in 1854; it remained open until 1918. The first school in Caledonia was opened in 1879; it operated for two years before being closed due to lack of facilities. The present school building was completed in 1903-04 and is located on Center Street between Maple and Walnut Streets near the mill complex which remain today an active industrial site providing jobs for many local residents including many who still work there today (the old mill buildings are also preserved). Caledonia experienced some civic development during its early years with several organizations being started such as the Masonic Lodge #569 & 605 which met at the old mill complex beginning around 1800 and continues to this day with Regular meetings held every other week outside since 1978/79 indoor meetings have been held 3 times per year since then inside meeting rooms pulled together where appropriate primarily for business purposes but occasional large scale events like county fairs or conventions have been held here over time including2012 summer Olympics . Additionally most recently a new library facility has been constructed adjacent to this community center that opened in fall 2013
Caledonia, Wisconsin was organized as a town in 1851. The first settler in Caledonia was James A. Bruner. The town was named for the Scottish island of Skye.
