Additionally, during the war many civilians also started using Binos as they became an important tool for sighting bombers flying overhead or watching military operations from distant positions. As technology advanced during the postwar period, new types of eyeglasses such as astigmatism correction glasses became available which improved the accuracy and clarity of binoculaires when used with correct eyeglasses

There is no record of a community called Caledonia in Wisconsin before 1854. The first mention of the name was in an article from the Milwaukee Sentinel published on October 15, 1854, which reported that land had been sold within two miles of the town for $2,500. At that time there were only three families living in what is now Caledonia and they were all related to each other. The first settler in Caledonia was James Auld who arrived in 1855. He built a cabin on the west side of Bear Creek. In 1865, John Fenton came to live in Caledonia and he also started a grocery store. In 1868, Abraham Post bought some land near the creek and built a house there. In 1880, George Haggerty came to live in Caledonia and he started a grocery store too. The next year, another family moved into town- it was Alexander & Mary Muller who founded the Miller Drug Company here. They operated it until 1938 when it closed down due to economic conditions. In 1903, Charles Cavanaugh came to live inCaledonia and he opened the first convenience store hereabouts- it still stands today! In 1912, George Waddell moved into town and started his own grocery store too- this one still stands today! By 1922 there were four stores operating inCaledoniastreet with about 100 customers per day!
Caledonia is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–West Allis metropolitan area. The town began as a post office called Caledonia on December 3, 1857, and was named for Colonel James FentonCalhoun, an American Revolutionary War veteran and landowner. The first settler in what is now Caledonia was John Snively who built his cabin on the east side of the creek in 1858. On November 6, 1860, a large fire burned throughout much of Douglas County and destroyed many homes and businesses including those of Judge Augustus Bendixen and Captain George Wohlgemuth from nearby Appleton. In 1861-1862 there were several skirmishes around this time with both sides using arms to try to control or drive off Indian tribes which inhabited what are now portions of Douglas County. In 1865 Captain John Prentice led an expedition that discovered the first white settlement in what would become Caledonia when he found evidence of buildings near present day towns Racine and Milwaukee. Captain Prentice's company also discovered valuable natural resources such as coal along the way including what would later be developed into Racine by Dutchman Willem de Bruijn and his son Cornelius de Bruijn. A school was built for children in 1862 by Reverend Jock Doddridge but it closed down due to lack of funds about two years later. In 1875-1876 Reverend James Hardesty established a small mission church in what is today known as downtown Caledonia after coming across some rocks where he believed someone had been buried centuries ago during Prehistoric times according to legend within the community which at that time still included many Native Americans who spoke their own language despite living within European limits since 1786 when Treaties were made between France & Great Britain recognizing French sovereignty over most of North America east of the Mississippi River

Caledonia, Wisconsin was born in 1852 as a small town on the east side of the Great Lakes. The town began to grow rapidly during the early 1800s when new settlers arrived and began to build homes. After a few years, Caledonia became known as one of the most important towns in the area because of its location and commerce. The first school in Caledonia was established in 1854 and soon after, there were also businesses started up in the town. In 1860,Caledonia became home to its first post office and by 1865, it had two newspapers which served as a source of information for residents. By 1870, Caledoniians were beginning to name their children after famous American politicians or figures from history. In 1872, Caledonia became an incorporated municipality and by 1888 it had four jails which helped support local law enforcement. In 1898, caledonian voters ratified a city charter that provided for more autonomy within the municipality with greater control over finances and land use. By 1903,Caledoneians were electing their own mayors and council members which continued until 1963 when all elections were merged into one system under Milwaukee County government rule. During World War II, many people from Caledonisie worked at various factories located throughout Wisconsin helping put America through her wartime ordeal. After the war ended in 1945, many people returned to their hometowns but some decided to stay inWisconsin permanently including Mayor John Ahern who was elected to serve out his term until 1960 when he moved back Eastside of Chicago where he developed his business interests. Today there are still many businesses active in Caledonia such as KFC which has been open since 1955; Ford dealership that opened its doors in 1959; Book store that has been open since 1966;and Pizza Hut restaurant that opened its doors on December 1stth 1980
Caledonia was founded in 1836 by David F. Holmquist and his wife Anna. The town was named after the Scottish island of Caledonia, which is where the first settler, John McLaren, landed in 1835. The town quickly grew and developed a strong agricultural economy, with crops such as corn, wheat, and soybeans being grown. In 1916, the town renamed itself to honor General George Custer after he died in battle during the American Civil War.
