BB guns have a long and varied history in Caledonia, Wisconsin. The first firearms in the area were pistols, which were made of wood or leather. In 1849, John P. Hall built the first BB gun store in the town of Racine. This store was located on State Street between Washington and Herold Streets. He sold handguns, shotguns, rifles, and other firearms to settlers living in the region. By 1870, there were over eighty gun stores in Wisconsin alone selling BB guns. Many of these stores were run by Frontier Gunsmiths who specialized in creating custom-made BB guns for specific customers. In 1892, John Purnell founded the Purnell Rifle Company in Racine with his brother-in-law Samuel Morse as president and treasurer. The company manufactured rifles using ballistics data gathered from experiments conducted by Samuel Morse at his home on Milwaukee's north side. The first rifle produced by Purnell Rifle Company was called the "Winchester Model 80." This rifle was designed to be used with 20 gauge shotgun shells that had been shot into a main borescope used to measure ballistic trajectories (similar to today's aim point). The popularity of BB guns began to grow during World War I due to their ability to shoot small projectiles at high velocities (over 1 million feet per second). With this new type of weapon came a need for better ammunition options; something that Ballistix Ammunition Corporation had been researching since 1916! Ballistix Ammunition Corporation developed four types of BB rounds specifically designed for use with airguns: HJTX round (High Velocity Trinidad EX), JB3 round (Joint Black 3 EX), XP round (X-PowerEX), and RN round (Remington New Red Nickels EX). These rounds could travel up to 553 miles without losing power! During World War I, Ballistix Ammunition Corporation exported over one million rounds of its products worldwide! After World War I ended, Ballistix Ammunition Corporation decided it would be more efficient to produce its own ammunition instead of sourcing ammo from other companies abroad. They built their own manufacturing plant in West Allis, WI and started production on December 12th 1919! From here until 1938 they produced nearly 350 different types of ammunition including ballistics bullets such as HJTX rounds and XP rounds specifically tailored for airguns! The first settler in Caledonia was James Hogg. He and his family moved to what is now Caledonia from Kenosha County, Wisconsin in 1836. early settlers also included John Wirth and Nicholas Metzger who all owned land east of present day Manitowoc on the Menominee River. In 1868, J.M. Dent started a sawmill on the Menominee River which became one of the largest mills in operation in Wisconsin until it closed its doors in 1978 due to economic hard times. The mill site today remains an agricultural production center with various barns and outbuildings still standing, evidence that this once influential mill had a significant impact on local economy for many years after it closed its doors. In 1905, Congress passed the Pure Food and Drug Act which made regulation of food more tightly controlled than ever before Gave farmers much needed relief during tough times This act helped spur growth throughout southern Wisconsin as small businesses were able to start up and bring new products to market

The first breech-loading gun was built by George Stephenson in 1814. In 1871, Royal Navy Admiral David Beatty developed and deployed the first true self-propelled artillery system with guns that could be brought up to speed on their own power. This system, called "Beatty's Boat", became operational during the Anglo-Egyptian War of 1922–1924.
Caledonia, Wisconsin is a small town located in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. Caledonia is one of the most historically significant communities in Waukesha County. The community was founded in 1852 by John and Elmira Smith. It was named for Princesscaledonia of Scotland who had visited the area during the early 1800s. The Smiths were instrumental in helping to form the Town of Racine and were also responsible for building much of what is now Caledonia's downtown. In 1881, they donated land to make up part of what is now State Highway 21. The community's name came about because it sat on a high point on which trade goods could be shipped from Racine to Chicago via the Mississippi River valley. John and Elmira Smith would eventually pass away in 1911 and 1916 respectively, but their legacy lives on through their children who continue to live in Caledonia and contribute importantly to its history. Today, Caledonia remains an important community with a rich cultural heritage that has been passed down through its residents for generations
Caledonia began as a small farming community in the late 1800s. It grew rapidly during the early 1900s, thanks to new transportation and trade routes created by the Wisconsin Central Railroad. The town reached its peak during World War I, when it was home to over 100 businesses and 1,000 residents. After the war, Caledonia declined slowly until the mid-20th century, when it experienced a rapid growth period. In recent decades, however, Caledonia has been struggling with economic decline and population loss.
