Caledonia, Wisconsin is a small town in the town of Green Bay, Wisconsin. It is located in Caledonia County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,452. The towns of Green Bay and Appleton are both adjacent to Caledonia. The community was organized on February 14, 1867 by George Hennepin and others as a result of their efforts to improve navigation on the Fox River. The name "Caledonia" originates from Scottish Gaelic meaning "the place where they caught salmon." The first post office was established in Cottage Grove on November 3, 1868. By 1870, there were five stores and eighty-one residents in Caledonia. On October 9, 1870 three carsload of potatoes were delivered to the new post office by Wm Hemsley from Red Wing; this was the first victuals delivery to that office. In 1872 Garland Jorgensen opened a general store and services continued until 1899 when it became part of American Harvester Company Incorporated which merged with Northwestern Pacific Railroad Company In 1915 John Fenton opened an auto parts store called Fenton's Department Store which continued until 1979 when it became part of Kohl's Department Stores . A fire destroyed most of what remains of Fenton's store on December 6th 1978 . In 1952 an election resulted in one seat being apportioned to each township for representation in the Wisconsin State Assembly . However only two seats were ever filled After fifty years without representation there will be an election held at some point in 2020 for four more seats which will be apportioned among all thirteen townships

However, during World War II, many residents chose not to support the war effort and fled to other parts of Wisconsin or Iowa. Today, Caledonia is a quiet community with a strong sense of community pride.
The first European to settle in what is now Caledonia, Wisconsin was Father James Ewing. He and his family arrived on the Mayflower in 1638 and set out for the ship's Graveyard in Plymouth, England. They were the only Europeans to ever set foot on America. The Ewings built a log cabin near the present day town of Menomonee Falls and started a small farm. In 1845, they sold their farm and moved to Caledonia, Wisconsin where they continued to live until their death in 1951.
