The first store was founded in 1857 by James Glynn and J Haggerty. In 1860, Charles Schieffer opened a grocery store at what is now Main Street/Route 3 east of downtown Brookfield. At that time,brooksiville had only 6 homes with around 40 people living there; today it has over 2400 residents! By 1870, most businesses were either located on or near downtown which made life much easier for everyone including transportation links to downtown Milwaukee through tracks such as the Milwaukee Road (now Amtrak) which came into operation in 1863 also responsible for bringing goods into town from outlying farms like Racine (then Wauwatosa) making it one of the largest industrial centers west of Chicago during this time period

On January 1st 1904 – just two years before American entry into World War I – Brookfield merged with Menomonee Falls to formthe city of Milwaukee through annexation. On July 1st 1957 – less than one year after Milwaukee's annexation into Chicago – Brookfield merged with Racine to formthe cityof Racine through annexation also. In 1998 this merger led to another merger when Park View became partof Racine through annexation also; this made Park View one-third larger than it had been prior to these mergers combined! Finally on April 12th 2016 Park View annexed againto make it fully adjacent toMilwaukee once again!
