By 1870, it had become the largest town in Milwaukee County. Gunmakers played an important role in the city's development and many of today's firearms were designed or made here. The first handguns that were made in Brookfield were small-caliber pistols called "fancy revolvers." These pistols were used by frontier miners and other early settlers as self-defense weapons against Indian raids. In 1907, however, interest in handguns waned among Americans because of increased popularity among Europeans for their new automatic weapons such as the Luger pistol and submachine gun. The gunsmiths closed their business in 1909 and went out of business altogether. Firearms production ceased completely for almost fifty years until reintroduced during World War II with Browning Automatic Pistol models A1 (1919) through M2 (1941). During World War II, guns production resumed at local gunsmiths' shops due to shortages caused by wartime rationing. After the war ended there was continued demand for firearms but these businesses failed due to reduced profits from postwar inflationary trends brought about by wartime output restrictions

The first gun in Brookfield was a pistol, which was bought by George W. Hargrave on December 15, 1841. The Second American Revolution began on Lexington Green on April 19, 1775 with the Battle of Bunker Hill. On that day, British nutmeg planters opened fire on patriot militiamen while they were gathered around the nearby house of Lt. Colonel John Adams to surrender their arms and munitions to the British authorities. A group of gunsmiths from Brookfield repaired and improved some old muskets brought over by the Americans during that war and also made new models for use in this conflict. In 1852, a rifle company was raised in Brookfield and two years later it became an artillery regiment under command of Major General Winfield Scott Hancock himself. In 1863, after the Civil War ended, Brookfield's Rifle Regiment became part of Wisconsin Volunteers Infantry Corps (WVIAC) commanded by Brigadier General Oliver Hazard Perry until its disbandment in 1865. After World War I ended in November 1918, Great Lakes Command assumed control of all military forces within U.S.-controlled areas east of Mexico City following the Treaty of Paris which ended World War I and ending hostilities between America and Russia/czarist Russia

Brookfield is a town in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,338 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Brookfield was first settled in 1836 and incorporated as a city in 1851. The current name for the town comes from the Brookfield River which flows through it. Brookfield is located at (42.847871, -87.660914). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. The river that runs through Brookfield is called "the brook" because of its many small tributaries that join it there. There are also several lakes in and around Brookfield including: Cedar Lake, Fox Lake, Kettle Falls Lakeshore and Menomonee Falls Reservoirs Recreational Area (formerly Wauwatosa Reservoir). The hamlet of West Allis lies just east of I-794 between US 12 and I-94; it forms one side of this separation while Brooksville on the other side borders Parktown on its west border with Milwaukee proper to form what used to be an almost continuous urban/rural border until Parktown annexed neighboring Brookfield in 1984 after years of wrangling over boundaries between both communities which had been governed by different municipal councils since before incorporation into Milwaukee as chartered towns took place in 1836 when two separate villages - each named after their respective rivers - were merged under one common management plan due to increases in population density across those two villages following annexation by Milwaukee based on agreements reached during 1840 territorial acquisitions made from Illinois via purchase from France following American victory over Britain at Battle Of Fort Dearborn on October 3,1846 - this acquisition included portions of Ohio west of Chicago along with land eastward about Racine via Purchase From France on November 15,1848) resulted in populations within these newly acquired municipalities increasingly overlapping so much that effective government services were no longer available or possible within either village resulting invernacular administration characterized by high levels cf cultural isolation among settlers within each municipality with resultant significant concentrations adjacent to larger cities where employment opportunities prevailed generally outside residential areas existing today primarily due to annexation/penetration by neighboringMilwaukee as well as reactivation/ revival efforts initiated by then Mayor Tom Barrett following enactment of legislation authorizing annexations authorized by then State Senator Joseph Schiappa resulting from decision made during his term as mayor prior thereto that Walker County would become an intentional regional center for manufacturing products associated with Walker Chemicals Company located adjacent to Racine Naval Air Station & concurrently developing a major retail center known now as Pere Marquette Center adjoining downtown Racine) giving rise to names such as "the seven hills" (I-794 leading south), "the industrial zone" (northwest corner include extending north along I-494 & south along Wauwatosa Road forming eastern border formed by overlap between Cook County lines running east-west parallel unto state line), "south central Wisconsin" (western edge including most recent former county line forming eastern border), "central Wisconsin" ( southernmost edge including former county line forming western border), etc.) reflecting continuing pattern whereby increasing numbers of residents living near large Urban Centersoutside residential areas have led to increased concentrationleanorighborhoodswithincities having increased levels cf cultural isolation characteristicof early 20th century rural America

Samuel's descendants continue to live here today through their businesses properties such as Ameritech WI LLC - America's First Broadband Company - Ameritech Wireless Services Inc., Ameritech Internet Services Inc., Ameritech Home & Service Inc., Touchstone Credit Union -Touchstone Credit Union has since amalgamated with Wells Fargo Bank -and others! One aspect that many people may not know about this family is that they are also owners or directors/managers (or shareowners/holders)of four professional sports teams: Green Bay Packers Football Club; Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club; Chicago Blackhawks Hockey Team; and Milwaukee Bucks Basketball Club! From its humble beginnings as a small town on the Fox River just west of Green Bay into one of North America’s most important cities – all while remaining environmentally conscious – Brookfields story has unfolded over more than 150 years!
