Beloit, Wisconsin is a city in the U.S. state ofWisconsin and the county seat of Milwaukee County. The population was 33,853 at the 2010 census. It is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America and has a rich history dating back to 1852 when it was founded as a small post office on the edge of what is now downtown Beloit by General George Armstrong Custer's unit during his Indian Wars campaign against Native Americans. The city's current name comes from its location near where two flashes were seen in 1852 when cannons were used to signal Major John Fitch's forces advancing through town during their Battle of Beloit Creek. The first flash occurred on December 15th, 1892 when James B. Conklin set off an exploding watch cap grenade while serving as Mayor of Beloit; this event became known as "The Nightingale" flash because the sound it made lasted for almost 20 minutes. The second flash occurred on November 10th, 1908 when Charles Goodyear lit up his hand-held flashlight while patrolling downtown streets during rush hour; this event became known as "The Big White Flash". In 1911, industrialist George Wickersham purchased The Noyes Brewery from John Beloit and started up another brewery called Wickersham Brewing Company which would remain successful until 1965 when it merged with Miller Brewing Company to form MillerCoors Incorporated (later also known as Budweiser). During World War II, The Noyes Brewery played a significant role in assisting with military production by producing steel tubing for bridges, tanks and other war equipment. Today only a few relics of that time remain including a 5-foot deep well drilled into bedrock near where State Street meets University Avenue which still yields beer today despite being inactive for over 50 years; however tours are available for those interested in learning more about this historically important landmark! The current day incarnation of Beloit began to form around 1960 when local residents decided to move away from their agricultural roots towards urban life; however many aspects of daily life such as grocery shopping continued unchanged unchanged even after moving out into downtown skyscrapers! This shift towards modernity didn't sit well with some people who felt that city living was not their style; however they decided instead to stay put and continue working within their own neighborhoods rather than going against nature! Since then Belleview Park District has seen various expansions culminating in their current footprint covering almost 20 acres just off Highway 51 between State Street/University Avenue & Racine Boulevard/Milwaukee Road! Today there are countless businessespaces Downtown including many bars/restaurants along with movie theaters (the Fox Theatre opened its doors back up after being destroyed during Hurricane Katrina), Barnes & Noble bookstore chain (now owned by Kohl’s)and several high-end boutiques like Saks Fifth Avenue etc.; furthermore there are also numerous low-income housing developments situated throughout town center making it easy for everyone living here access excellent education options without breaking the bank!

In 1861, when America became involved in the American Civil War, Beloit seceded from Illinois and joined the Confederacy.
