Beloit, Wisconsin is a town in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,940 at the 2010 census. The Beloit Municipal Airport is located in the town. The Beloit area has been inhabited by Native Americans for over 5,000 years. The first European to visit this area was Jean Nicolet on August 15, 1762. He named the immediate area "Beloit" after his family's home village of Bois-de-Lorette in Normandy. On December 3, 1854, George Stephenson erected an ironclad shipyard and warehouse on the southern border of present-day Beloit and built a wharf to service it out of which he unloaded goods destined for Rock Island and points north. In 1857–58, granite blocks were quarried from the site to build a new courthouse and other public buildings; these structures remain standing today as part of downtown Beloit's historic district. In 1896, John Ballman opened what became known as "The Ballman Gun Works". This company manufactured firearms until 1907 when it merged with National Firearms Company to become one of America's largest firearms producers for both civilian and military use. The Ballman Gun Works continued manufacturing guns until 1942 when it closed due to World War II production shortages caused by the depression. In 1946–47, William Pogue cofounded Remington Arms Company with Amish farmer Milton Remington Sr.. Pogue would later rename Remington Arms Company (now Barnes & Noble) after himself in 1973 in order better reflect its corporate culture which emphasized product innovation over traditional riflemaking techniques

In 1893, an act passed by Congress called for a town meeting to be held at which proposals for townships should be made; at this meeting, it was decided that Beloit should join Racine as a town under their jurisdiction and so Paul Revere House became home to Town Meeting until 1906 when Racine took over responsibility for that function from Town Meetingeele because they felt that Beloise needed more autonomy than Racine did given its large commercial development potential In 1907–08 Reverend Jno.-Macklin Richardson served as pastor at First Presbyterian Church located on Third Street adjacent to City Hall Annex A while concurrently serving as secretary/treasurer for both Towns meetings; later he also served as pastor at Zion Episcopal Church located on Main Street next door thereto duringtown meetings thereat while simultaneously serving as assistant treasurer/secretary for both Towns meetings In 1912 Revd Macklin Richardson organized an educational society which met monthly during school vacations with members divided into two groups: one attended religious services Monday evening while another met Thursday evenings after school to discuss topics such as high education etc.; this society soon developed into present day Northwoods Community College

In addition to its role as an important link between American industry and British society during World War II (alongside other communities such as Manchester), Albion also served as an important base for air forces during that period; indeed, many bombers from American bases were based at Albion during World War II. Despite these successes during peacetime years – including two decades where Beloit saw no significant increase in population – by 1960 only 2 percent of Albion’s workforce consisted entirely of civilians while 98 percent belonged to either government or business employees who supported their employers through their day-to-day work efforts. This situation changed after September 11th when large numbers Chicagoans decided they wanted to move closer to their jobs but found that doing so would require leaving their homes behind (in contrast to most Americans who chose not to leave their city). As a result of this migration trendsetter activity – alongside steady economic growth throughout much later years – by 1990 almost half (45 out of 78)of all Main Street businesses still operating in downtown Albion were familyowned enterprises run by women or men from within households with workers aged 16+.

Beloit was founded in 1834 by the Beloit and Waukesha Railroad Company. The town became a city in 1889, after it was annexed by Milwaukee.
