Bellevue is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in the large southern Driftless Area. The population was 10,032 at the 2010 census. Bellevue is included within the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area, which had a population of 20,787 as of July 1, 2015. Bellevue is one of several towns and villages that make up Racine County and are part of the Racine–Kenosha Combined Statistical Area (CSA). The village was platted on May 10, 1847 by General John J. Pershing and his assistant Governor Samuel Curtis; it was named for Prince Eugene de Beauharnais who had been governor-general of Canada during World War I. Bellevue's first post office opened in 1851; it closed in 1857 due to heavy demand from settlers moving into the area. The first store in Bellevue was built on Main Street; it operated until 1902 when a new store was built on North Road. The next store building was built on South Road in 1915; it served as the town hall until 1978 when it burned down and was replaced with a new town hall building which still stands today. Belvidere High School opened its doors on November 15, 1912 and remains Bellevue's only high school today according to 2018 enrollment data from UW-Milwaukee’s online student database In 1916, general Motors began production at their plant near present day Kenosha Avenue and Highway 59 (now I-43) west of Bellevue while also constructing two other plants – one near Waukesha County line south of Oshkosh and one just north of La Crosse – this latter plant became known as "General Motors Park". A few years later Sears Roebuck & Co., Inc.'s headquarters were relocated from downtown Chicago to Kenosha Avenue between 60th Street and 62nd Street across Lake Michigan where they continue to operate to this day under various names including Sears Tower or simply Sears Plaza despite having moved out Court House Place some time ago

Bellevue, Wisconsin is a town located in the Driftless Area of eastern Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,864 at the 2010 census. Bellevue is part of the city of Milwaukee. Bellevue was first settled in 1839 by Swedish traders and immigrants who arrived on the Great Lakes following the Black Hawk War. The name "Bellevue" comes from French meaning "place where people come to trade." The name has been used since then for different places in the town and county. The first post office in Bellevue was established on October 24, 1842. It was renamed Hartford on December 1, 1872 after Hartford County, Connecticut became a U.S. state. Prospectors discovered gold near Beloit in1848 and soon there were settlements near where Bellevue would be formed some time later that included Beatrice (1850), Clinton (1851), Grafton (1855),Milwaukee (1860), Waukesha (1863), Sheboygan (1865) and Racine ( 1870). In 1863 Bellevue received its own incorporation as a village with a population of about 150 people but it declined rapidly due to disease and economic decline until it regained its vitality during World War II when many veterans moved into Bellevue from other towns in southeastern Wisconsin to rebuild their lives after serving overseas or being drafted into service during the war effort. Most of these new residents were Polish Americans although others came from among various ethnic groups living around American cities at that time including Germans, Italians, Irish Catholics and African Americans which all contributed to this often tumultuous period during which change took place rapidly within small towns across America characterized by strong social values held together by tight community networks while also experiencing rapid technological progress which led to increased opportunities for advancement for both men and women as well as an increasing number of working-class families struggling against difficult odds under constant pressure from rising prices and demands for ever more productive jobs outside of traditional family incomes even as overall employment rates remained relatively stable over time despite dramatic changes within conventional societylargely because most major industrial plants had closed down by then adjacent rural communities such as Oshkosh) . By 1945 BellevUE had regained enough life force to petition for incorporation back into village form with a population of 350 again but no further growth occurred until 1990 when annexed by Milwaukee making BellevUE one of only two villages remaining entirely within their former boundaries without any formal annexation process other than those initiated by neighboring municipalities through referendum processes during normal times).
