Bellevue, Wisconsin (population 5,000) is located in the eastern corner of the state of Wisconsin. It is bordered by the states of Michigan and Iowa to the south, and Illinois and Missouri to the north. The city was founded in 1836 by John W. Holcomb as Bellevue Township. The township was renamed Bellevue in 1851 after General James K. Polk who served as President of the United States during that year. In 1902 Bellevue became a city with a population of 15,000 people. The first police officer for Bellevue was William Jenson who arrived on July 1, 1836. By 1840 there were 12 officers employed by Bellevue Police Department which included 2 Sergeants, 4 corporals and one sergeant major. By 1865 all employees had been promoted to captain or higher rank including 3 assistant captains and one lieutenant colonel commanding an infantry regiment during the American Civil War which also saw service with 9 companies of cavalry through out most of its duration The Bellevue Police Department has been continuous operation since it was formed on July 1st 1836 which is almost 175 years old! This department provides law enforcement services to a population of over 5,000 residents currently comprising 7 patrol officers plus support staff totaling 20 sworn members plus 3 civilian contract security guards One aspect that sets this department apart from other departments in similar sized cities is their holster policy which allows for any citizens age 21 or younger to purchase a holster without having to go through any type of training or experience . Additionally these holsters must be worn at all times while on duty within City limits Bellevue has long been known for its high-quality firearms products both within its community and throughout neighboring communities . Bellevue is one of eight villages in the town of Menominee and it is also one of six townships within Menominee County. Bellevue has a ZIP code 60922, which covers most of its residents and businesses. The first European settler in Bellevue was Peter Schuyler, who arrived there on July 4, 1836. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and named it Bellevue after his home village in New York State. In 1839, David Sibley built a house on what is now Elmira Avenue and named it Bellevue after himself and his home village in Ontario County, New York. The first post office was established at Bellevue on November 11, 1840 by George Pohlman with Wm Burden as mail carrier for that address . On February 15, 1856, Averill Fenton opened a store at 261 Main Street which became the largest general store west of Chicago until it closed its doors in 1911. The first telephone line was installed in Bellevue by Julius Rosenwald with an east-west phone exchange near Elmira Avenue on December 1st 1907 . That same year Edward Hutton opened up his grocery store at 501 Main Street which became Oneida Grocery Company before closing down operation several years later due to economic conditions In 1916–17 $5 million dollars were invested into development projects within Menominee County including construction of roads and bridges; installation of public schools; acquisition or condemnation of land for industry; agricultural development; housing development; etc.. These investments created over 100 jobs during those two years alone while also securing funding for future endeavors such as water systems expansion and more recent expansions such as an arena/purdue basketball stadium project (now known as Little America Arena). In 1938–39 7% ($395) off all food sales went to local charities through donation drives organized by Home Economics teacher Mrs Florence Houseworth whose husband ran the grocery store adjacent to their house from 1924 until his death in 2006
