Beaver Dam is located in the heart of Wisconsin’s wine country. The town was founded by German farmers in 1846, and has since been a center for gun manufacturing and shooting. The town also contains one of the largestGunsmithy Schools in the United States. In 1847, David Hogg, an American arms dealer living in Berlin, Germany began importing guns into America. He imported swords for the Russian military as well as pistols and rifles for American civilians. One of his shipments arrived at the docks of Beaver Dam on July 17th,1847. It contained two barrels of cannon ammunition from Russia named “Dmitry Krylov” and “Aleksey Suvorov”. At that time it was the first time Americans had ever seen firearms manufactured in Russia! The guns were unloaded and placed on the dock next to several hundred barrels of beer which were being unloaded at the same time. A large crowd had gathered to watch as these strange new weapons were unloaded! David Hogg then took some of his employees down to meet these cannons for themselves! They were so impressed with what they saw that they ordered moreguns from Russia! Over time, gun targets became a popular pastime around Beaver Dam due to their simplicity: just find a target you can shoot at accurately (or use any dummy you have), aim your firearm at it using some kind of sighting device (usually a crosshair or graduated reticle), pull back on your trigger until your shot hits its mark, release all pressure before looking down to see how close your shot actually got; this process is known as "loading" your target! Beaver Dam has been a community for over 100 years and is one of the oldest towns in Wisconsin. The first settler in Beaver Dam was James Beavers who came from Vermont in 1838. The town started as an agricultural community with two frame houses and twenty acres (100 hectares) of land. In 1852, the legislature built a schoolhouse and began to develop the town into a commercial center which included industries such as sawmills, flour mills, tanneries and breweries. In 1916, Beaver Dam became home to Wisconsin's first electric power plant which provided electricity for the town until it closed in 1978. Today there are several businesses that use Beaver Dam's natural resources including fishing marketing company Carrion Catcher Inc., paper mill JB Hunt Paper Company and tourism provider Appalachian Trail Museum Inc..

Beaver Dam is a small town in southwestern Wisconsin, United States. The population was 971 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The first European to visit Beaver Dam was Pierre Le Moyne, Sieur de La Mothe Cadillac on July 12, 1779. Cadillac explored and mapped much of present-day Wisconsin before finally settling in what is now Green Bay on August 24, 1793 with his brother Étienne de la Croix Cadillac. The community site where Beaver Dam sat today was chosen because of its natural resources: a large body of water that empties into the Kettle River near present-day Manitowoc and also had excellent agricultural potential due to its fertile soil and rich clay deposits. A post office called Beaver Dam was established in 1873, and remained in operation until it were discontinued in 1913. The discovery of oil near Superior in 1903 led to the growth of the energy industry in southwest Wisconsin, which led to increased demand for goods produced there such as lumber and automobiles. In 1924, a pipeline system was built from Midland County to Milwaukee that allowed oil companies access to local markets without having to ship their product all the way downriver; this caused a rapid expansion of manufacturing within northwest Wisconsin and directly affected Beaver Dam as well as other nearby towns like Racine and Waukesha which became boomtowns during this time period. As production heated up throughout southeast Michigan during World War II, steel mills began mushrooming throughout northeast Wisconsin thanks largely to wartime demand for aluminum products. By 1957, only 2% of the workforce employed at Steeles Manufacturing Company still lived within Beaver Dam; however, due to continued growth at the company and an infusion of new workers from outside Southeast Michigan (primarily people from Racine), by 1970 most employees living within 5 miles (8 km) radius had left too; by 2000 Steeles Manufacturing Company employed just over 100 workers remaining inside the town limits but little or no retail activity took place due primarily to out-migration over time for jobs elsewhere across northwestWisconsin influenced by big box stores opening up shortly after WWII ended). There has been some recent resurgence around downtown Beaverdam with art exhibits/events taking place along Main Street & Alder Streets every month or so since 2007 under new management following fire damage done by a building contractor.; some redevelopment is underway including construction of a new elementary schoolhouse adjacent to Downtown's parking lot that should be completed sometime next year
