Beaver Dam is a town in central Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The first person to set foot on this land known as Beaver Dam was James Robertson in 1846. He and his brother, John Robertson, were farmers who settled what is now Beaver Dam Township in 1847. Their father had also arrived from Scotland about that time and started a farm in the area. In 1865, the first post office was established at Beaver Dam with George Stephenson as its first postal clerk. The town charter was granted on July 1, 1871. On October 15 of that year, it became an incorporated town with a population of 805 people when two other towns within Green Bay ceded their respective boundaries: descriptively called Deerfield and Wausau (now West Allis). In 1892, the name of the town changed to Beaverdam after a dam across the river near present-day Burlington became operational providing power for local mills including those located downstream at Racine and Milwaukee. The early years were difficult for Beaverdam because much of what would become its commercial district was floodplains used by both streams running through it - something which still occurs today due to heavy rains during winter months. Nevertheless, over time businesses began to appear along Main Street such as grocery stores (1887), druggists (1912), meatpacking plants (1920s), tool and die shops (1928), automobile dealerships (1962) and many more since then making it one of Wisconsin's most vibrant communities with many diverse businesses supporting its nearly 4,000 residents today

Beaver Dam is a small town in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin, United States. It is located in the town of Beaver Dam and Niles Township, and covers an area of 7.2 square miles (18.1 km2). As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,715. The first settler in what is now Beaver Dam was John Meyers on May 3, 1847. The dam was built to prevent flooding by the Racine River and it has been used for both practical and aesthetic reasons ever since its construction. The first settlers were Quakers who believed that dams were bad for rivers because they diverted water away from valleys and mountains to form reservoirs where it could be used for farming or industry. However, over time people began to see advantages to dams such as providing storage capacity for goods that could not be transported by roads or ocean vessels, preventing floods during heavy rains, deterring theft by animals and humans alike, creating beautiful scenery when viewed from a distance (e.g., Lookout Mountain), etc. In 1907-08 there was a large demonstration at Beaver Dam against hydroelectric power development on the Illinois River near La Crosse due to fears that this would reduce access to trout fishing areas downstream as well as diminish opportunities for agriculture around Beaversdam Creek sacred to many Native Americans. In 1933-34 President Franklin D Roosevelt approved $5 million towards the creation of five new states within America – Iowa, Nebraska (both part of Lincoln), North Dakota ( Fargo/Bismarck) and South Dakota – which included Beaver Dam in its boundaries; this made Beaver Dam one of only two towns within these five states never granted statehood outright (the other being Rapid City). The community's history can be traced back to 1847 when John Meyers settled here with his family after paddleboats became available on the lower Racine River following severe flooding in 1846 caused by upstream irrigation works draining water from nearby hillsides into the Racine River basin. After years of wrangling between government officials over who should own what land near Beaver Dam falls – including claims by several different families before Meyers’ – construction finally began on June 6th, 1850 under contract with Hennepin County Department of Public Works director James Fenton at a cost totaling $948 ($27 per acre) using local stone and woodworkers hired through subscription lists obtained from farmers along tributaries then flowing into the Racine River flats below Beaverdam creekbeds… After years of effort on behalf of local farmers and taxpayers [$3 million later] river levees were completed above & beyond original design requirements & parkland surrounding “Beaverdam” village developed primarily for recreational purposes rather than agricultural use until recently! What makes Beaver Dam so unique is not just its physical features but also its history which dates back more than 150 years! The first settler in what is now BeaverDam was John Meyers on May 3rd 1847 CE.. He arrived with his wife Elizabeth PembertonMeyer & 4 children from England aboard their vessel "Pioneer"…. Over time some other families followed suit such as: Byers Cooley heirs JFByers& SLCooleyOn July 1st 1860 Cornelius Hendrickson bought 640 acres adjoining MEYERS land…. On December 17th 1870 WmHammond erected dam across Raccoon Creek south sideof present day BEAVER DAM village….. A millstream calledRIchard Brook ran through BEAVER DAM until 1904 when it crossed PAWLACE creek & flowed east forming RIchard Brook again entering BEAVER DAM via SWITCHING CREEK….. Later much larger ditches were dug across SWITCHING CREEK feeding RIchard Brook…. Today most OF these features still remain including bridging Pawlace Creek overPAWLACE Creek making it possible for vehicular traffic crossing without getting wet…… DEVELOPMENT OF RAILROAD SYSTEM IN WIRELESS WORLD HAS CONSTANTLY ACQUIRING NEW AREAS FOR RAILROAD OPERATIONS…..Today we have 5 western U S states PLUS DC!!!!! The town took form in 1857 when settlers arrived from Illinois and erected a tollgate at the mouth of the river. The town plat was filed on July 6, 1857.
