Beaver Dam, Wisconsin was a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin from 1848 to 1957. It is now part of the city of Milwaukee. The town was named for George Washington's estate at Beaver Dam on the Menominee River. The first settler in what is now Beaver Dam was James Mifflin in 1829. By 1851, there were over 100 people living in the town. In 1857, when the towns of Sheboygan and Racine were merged into Milwaukee, Beaverdam became a part of that city.

Beaver Dam is a small town in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 562 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha metropolitan area. The first settler in Beaver Dam was Nicholas Sayer, who arrived in 1847. He built a log cabin on the south side of the dam and named it "Sayer's Landing". The first store in Beaver Dam was founded by George Washington Harmon in 1851. The town site was surveyed by David Whitcomb and erected as a village on April 12, 1854, by order of the Wisconsin General Assembly. On December 16, 1861, Beaverdam became an official state district under the name of Dodge County District No. 2. On November 15, 1875, Beaverdam incorporated as a city with a population of 1,500 people under mayor John Fenton and four trustees: Jens Petersen (vice president), Wm Cramer (director of public works), Aaronson Weissel (treasurer) and Rufus Bigham (an insurance commissioner). The city annexed parts of Racine and Wausau counties on January 1, 1897. Beaverdam grew rapidly during World War II due to its strategic location as an important munitions plant producing plutonium for American atomic weapons production; however it declined after 1945 when most manufacturing activity shifted to nearby Milwaukee or other cities throughout America due to new technology developments. In 1978-79 it regained some lost ground with passage of local ordinance encouraging development within limits established around 1966-68 when thoselimits were abandoned following community opposition; these limits included residential areas north along State Street from Main Street eastward to Interstate 94 while commercial areas extended west from SR 7 along State Avenue until US 41 reached their outskirts just inside downtown Beaverdam limits; this latter development period had been characterized as "the Beavers' Back" because much lumbering took place there prior to I-94 having been constructed across that border late in the decade which terminated traffic demand for much needed lumber located east of I-94 near now defunct Racine/Racine County Airport
Beaver Dam was a hydroelectric power plant on the Beaver River in central Wisconsin. The dam was built by the United States Bureau of Reclamation in 1922 and it became operational in 1924. It was used to generate electricity for the Central Power Administration until 1978.
