Beaver Dam is a town in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Munster metropolitan area. The first guns in Beaver Dam were built by John Fenton in 1846. A store and post office wereestablished there in 1847. In 1855, the first rifle company was organized in Beaver Dam and served until 1861 when it disbanded because of the American Civil War. In 1875, a blacksmith shop was established in Beaver Dam and soon became one of the most successful businesses in town. From 1903 to 1912, Beaver Dam had its own newspaper which published three issues per year until it merged with the Green Bay Gazette on October 1, 1912. In 1919, a new high school was built on land donated by Edward Bearden and opened for students on September 16th. The current high school building replaced an old school which burned down on November 4th of that year. In 1927-1928, Beaverdam experienced its first tornado outbreak which destroyed several homes and killed two people within minutes of each other.. On October 6th 1938 local resident Clarence "Kip" Kapp set off what would become known as “the Piper bomb” during World War II when he planted an unexploded ordinance into a tree outside his home near downtown Beaverdam to protest America’s involvement in World War II

Beaver Dam is a town in and the county seat of Beaverdam County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,692 at the 2010 census. The first settlers in what is now Beaverdam County were Dutch people who founded a trading post on the east side of the Wisconsin River in 1795. In 1836, they named their community after John C. Beaver, an American politician and lawyer from Ohio. The post office was established at the site in 1837 and remained open until it was discontinued in 1893. In 1863, during the American Civil War, Union Major General William Tecumseh Sherman ordered his army to cross the river and attack Union forces near present-day Burlington. As part of this operation, Sherman's division composed of 5 regiments of infantry crossed Beaverdam Creek south ofpresent-day downtown Beaverdam on July 12th. A large number of civilians were killed or wounded as result of this crossing which helped create public outrage against Sherman's actions later that year when he was impeached for malfeasance in office. According to one account, as many as 100 civilian casualties may have been caused by Confederate artillery fire used during that engagement alone; however other sources claim that no civilians were killed or injured during the battle itself and only a few soldiers died from frostbite or dehydration brought on by extreme cold weather conditions at that time. The death toll from those two engagements would eventually total around 25 Americans out of over 350 total causalities resulting from fighting within America's Civil War effort according to historian James Moseley Jr.. In 1865, Confederate General Robert Ewell captured Fort Beauregard (later renamed Fort Pulaski) on September 11th while Patriot Lieutenant Colonel John Sibley led a force comprising mounted riflemen numbering between 30 and 50 men against Ewell's force consisting mainly infantry under Major General Philip Sheridan%. Aftermaths saw over 2400 casualties among cavalryman leading detachments carrying guns across into North Carolina where they engaged Federal troops under Major General Joseph Johnston; however no civilian deaths resulted from this action although over 150 men were detained without trial for several days prior to being released without charge or trial due to lack evidence surrounding their case... thus endangering all life within fifty miles radius around fortifications including most women & children inside walls & useable stores
