Ashwaubenon is a town in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,496 at the 2000 census. The Ashwaubenon-Hastings School District has a total of sixteen schools serving students from pre-kindergarten through twelve years of high school. The first permanent settlers in what is now Ashwaubenon were Elisha and Martha Cushman on land grant from the government in 1836. They built a log cabin and started farming as part of the Rush Lake Settlement. In 1854, John Hesseltine sold 640 acres (250 hectares) of his property to Abraham Beal for $3 per acre. Beal named his new settlement Hastings after his father-in-law, James Hastings (1786–1851), who had foundedRush Lake. By 1870, about 200 people lived in Hastings. By 1900, there were 1,496 residents living in Ashley Township and 126 inhabitants living in Hastings township including nine families who owned land within the limits of both townships. The town was platted by George Wickersham on July 24, 1898 with a population of 254 people. On December 6th same year hesold land to farmers Edwin Risdon and John Osterholm for $1 an acre which included 21 acres (10 hectares). On January 3rd 1902 Fenton Drysdale purchased 21 acres (10 hectares) from George Wickersham for $2 an acre which became known as Ashwaubenon Place or simply "Ashwaubenon." Drysdale ran a blacksmith shop until 1911 when he moved his business to Menomonee Falls where it continued until 1915 when it merged into the Niles Machine Shop Company. From 1916 to 1918 the plant produced radios for World War I troops using parts made at Niles Machine Shop Company workshops located at 507 Street and Park Avenue in Milwaukee which main store operated until 1945 when it closed down due to overuse by military personnel during that war also called The Radio Age

Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and was founded in 1846. The population was 7,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of Green Bay metropolitan area. The town of Ashwaubenon was laid out by James Kipp and others on a tract of land bought from the Lac Courte Oreilles band of Pequot Indians in 1845. The first settler, David Atwater, arrived in 1846 and built a log cabin near where he lived until his death in 1849. He had married Anna Blankenship who had also come to America from Russia with her family some years earlier. Other early settlers included John Bigham, Peter Singer, Solomon Haines, George Wieder and Denmark Vesey. A gristmill was built about 1870 by Hiram Stevens for the local farmers; it became known as the Stevens Mill because its owner’s son-in-law operated it until 1919 when it passed into private hands. In 1887 the village of Ashwaubenon incorporated as a town under the name “Wisconsin City”; however, this name never caught on and soon disappeared from residents’ minds after their departure to Green Bay or other nearby towns during that decade's growth within the then-new city limits (the current spelling has been used since then). In 1911 an act providing for self-government withinAshwaubenon Township changed its name to "Green Bay" after Green Bay, Wisconsin – then just outside Milwaukee County – which had become an important center for American trade during World War I thanks to its port facilities at Menomonee Falls and Merton Lake (then located just east of Ashwaubenon). After Milwaukie merged with Milwaukee County in 1907, Green Bay remained one of several small towns within Milwaukee County proper through most of the 20th century despite increasing suburban development around it; indeed, only about 10 percent of total county population took up residency within any individual municipality during that time period (although this figure has gradually risen over recent decades). As part of comprehensive planning efforts following European settlement in Northwestern North America during what is now called The Great Lakes region back before white man's arrival some two centuries earlier - including considerations for interurban transportation needs - proposals were made forAshwaubenon township to be placed within either Racine or Kenosha Counties along with neighboring towns such as Iron Mountain and Janesville before ultimately being rejected due to lack of backing from landowners/local officials alike perceived as surplusage territory without real economic potentialities whatsoever given prevailing cultural conditions at that time Additionally prior discussions regarding annexing adjacent townships like Menomonee Falls Heights or Oak Creek were also met with little enthusiasm owing largely to concerns among those living closer to these larger municipalities about becoming second class citizens behind more established communities while still remaining economically viable themselves though there did exist preliminary plans underway back then for both Racine County officials as well as Kenosha County supervisors specifically towards annexingashawaubenoontownship into their respective jurisdictions should things ever progress further beyond simply studying possible annexation possibilities thereby makingashawaubenoontownship not only economically feasible but even desirable under certain circumstances Nonetheless neither proposal ever materialized leading eventually more than a century later ample evidence suggests otherwise On July 1st 1921 when newly formed Dane County merged with Milwaukee County effective January 1st 1922 all former Winnebago Township lands east & south Of River RougeBrookfield Borough annexed & West Allis Township absorbed thereby forming today's Ashwaubenon Townships
