Gun magazines in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin date back to the early 1800s. The first gun magazine in the town was started by a group of men who were looking for a place to store their firearms. The first issue of the Ashwaubenon Gun Club Magazine was published in 1818. At that time, there were only five or six guns in town and it was not possible to keep all of them safe. So, the club decided to start a magazine specifically for storing handguns. The first issue of the Ashwaubenon Gun Club Magazine featured Article VII of the United States Constitution which stated “A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free state,the right of citizens to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed”. This article helped start the tradition that continues today of armories being used as places where people can get their handgun magazines. The second gun magazine in town was started by Michael Heilman in 1827. At that time, there were over twenty guns in town and it was not possible to keep them all safe. So, Heilman decided to create a magazine specifically for storing handguns. The first issue of Heilman’s Gun Shop Magazine featured Article IX which stated “No person shall be compelled in any manner whatsoever to Shew his Arms against his will: no law shall be made respecting an individual’s Right thereto…. No partridge may be taken without Leave from any Person having lawful Possession thereof” This article helped start what is now known as firearm safety laws. In 1892, John Gossett started using an old printing press he had borrowed from his brother-in-law cartridge manufacturer Amos Redding Jr.. Gossett began publishing the Ashwaubenon Journal newspaper starting on May 1st, 1892 with daily issues #1-5 inclusive (at least until 1893 when editorial changes ceased publication). On July 1st 1863 General commands issued Order No 4 Geo L A #2drg order authorizing riflemen assembled at Fort Dodge (now Plymouth) Iowa under Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Youngblood commanding Third Infantry Regiment main bodyguard duty within limits prescribed by War Department

Ashwaubenon is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,941 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Elyria Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Ashwaubenon" comes from the Ojibwe word "namaaheen", meaning "place where there is water". The original inhabitants of the area were two families who were forced to leave their homes during the 1849 Big Sioux War and built a cabin on what is now State Highway 57. The first post office in Ashwaubenon was established in 1851. The community began to grow rapidly after a rail line was built through the area in 1865. By 1870,ashwabeno had an electric streetcar service and a school. A store and hotel were built around this time and remain standing today. In 1886,the first electric locomotive arrived in Ashwaubenon and it quickly became an important transportation artery for local businesses and residents. In 1906,ashwabeno amalgamated with neighboring towns Waukesha and Racine to form the city of Milwaukee which remains its namesake today. After World War II, growth slowed as factories closed down throughout north America; however, some new businesses started up and jobs were created in trucking, manufacturing and agriculture. In 2000-2001, Economic Development Authority (EDA) study ranked Ashwaubenon as one of Wiscones top 10 communities for private-sector job growth over that period between 1998-2000 Today's economy revolves around health care services such as hospitals & clinics along with other related industries including: food processing/marketing/transportation/logistics; information technology; biotechnology; construction materials management; retail trade
