In 1930, Ashwaubenon's first high school was built and it has been held continuously since then.

The nearest city is Appleton. The first Europeans to visit what is now Ashwaubenon were French voyageurs in 1673-4. A post office was established at Ashwaubenon in 1853, and a market was opened in 1857. A school was built there in 1875, and a store was built there in 1909. A dam was constructed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers near Silver Lake in 1923 to provide water for farmers east of Green Bay. It has been said that the village's name comes from "ashwabeno", meaning "black ash tree" because of its color when burning during early summertime. The first grocery store opened at Ashwaubenon in 1909 as part of a small community effort led by Mrs. Halsey which included six stores across five townships within Wiscona County (now Douglas County). That same year, an express station on US Highway 12 (now I-94) served as both a post office and general store for residents travelling north or south through Ashwaubenon on their way to work or shopping downtown Green Bay or Milwaukee; local residents could also get groceries delivered to their homes if they had an extra load inside their car! In 1957, one side of US Highway 12 became Main Street while the other side became Park Avenue; this change ensured that all traffic going through Ashwaubenon would use either main street whether coming from east or westbound traffic signals! In 1992, Verizon telephone service arrived making it possible for people living withinAshwabanonto have phone service even if they did not have cable TV! The town's only hospital opened its doors on October 1st 1974 with Drs. Ernest Weiser and Loretta Kappert providing care for patients with cancer until 1986 when Drs.. Ashwaubenon is a town in the town of Ashwaubenon, Brown County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,723 at the 2010 census. The name comes from an Ojibwe word meaning "place where water and earth meet." The first settler in what is now Ashwaubenon was John Ladd who arrived in 1836. He built a cabin on the edge of what is now downtown Ashwaubenon and named it after his home country of Scotland. In 1838, another woolen cooper, James Sutherlin, came to this area and built a store on Main Street. He named it Sutherlin's Store because he had bought land near the current site of the grocery store. In 1868, James Fenton purchased land near what is now downtown Ashwaubenon from David French for $1 million. Fenton began planning to build a large city called Milwaukee which would include parts of what are today Ashwaubenon and Green Bay. However, financial problems caused by railroad construction delayed his plans until 1870. When he finally achieved funding for his project, he founded the city of Milwaukee with its initial nucleus located around present-day Green Bay and Ashwaubenon. During World War II many farmers in eastern Brown County joined forces with farmers in west Michigan to fight against Axis troops during Operation Overlord which involved 1942-1943 American military campaigns along Nazi-occupied Europe known asthe Battle of France One hundred miles northwest of Paris
