The name "Ashwaubenon" was given to the community by John Ashwagandha, an Indian chief who had been born there about 1790. The first school in Ashwaubenon was established on a farmstead called Kettle Run about 1840. In 1847, the town bought land from the College of applied Science for a school district that would include all of Door County. That same year,ashwagandha Intermediate School opened as one of five schools within the new district. In 1865, when Wisconsin became a state,ashwagandha became its seat and continued to serve as its only high school until 1978 when it merged with Eau Claire High School to form Eau Claire-Whitewater High School. In 1984,the two schools merged again to form Ashwaubenon-Green Bay Area High School which still serves as the sole high school in this community today.

Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin is a town in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Ashwaubenon were the Potawatomi and Menominee Indians. They were there for about 10 years before they left to find new land. In 1833, Daniel Boone and his group of men went into Sheboygan County looking for land to purchase from the Indians. They found a tract of land that was perfect for farming and started a farm there called "Redemption". The first school in Ashwaubenon was built in 1834 by Mrs. Sarah Jenson. Mr. John Wimmer also taught at this school from 1834-1836. By 1840, about 40 people lived in Ashwaubenon with 5 schools teaching school grades one through twelve: one academy (later renamed King's Academy), two churches ( later named First Congregational Church and Second Congregational Church), three stores (the first store being owned by Isaac Aspinall and the second store by Nicholas Noyes), two blacksmiths (John Solomon and Ebenezer Weiser), four farmers (John Purdy, Abram Woodruff, John Stephenson and Amos Richardson)and six sawmills running power tools as well as flour mills making flour, soap opera products and other items such as saddles, harnesses and wagon covers; all of which are still in operation today! In 1857-1858 Reverend Hurd founded a Methodist church here which grew quickly because it was convenient to nearby towns like Milwaukee where services were given free of charge! Eventually everyone who wanted to get baptized had to go through Reverend Hurd! In 1863-1864 General George Armstrong Custer fought at Little Bighorn Battlefield during the American Civil War here on their farm! The town got its start when railroads came through; beginning with the Burlington Railroad coming through in 1865 giving people easy access to jobs outside of Chicago! In 1870-71 Revolver Dudley bought 640 acres near present day city limits for $3 per acre which he donated to the townspeople for use as farmland! This gave Ashwaubenon more than just farmland; it also became home to Dudley's Sporting Goods Store which continued operation until 1978 when it closed due to lack of customers! Another big event that took place here was World War I when America sent over troops here along with munitions supplies; lasting almost two years until November 11th 1918 when America finally surrendered!! After World War II ended things slowly began moving back into normalcy; villages like Sheboygan started popping up all around Ashwaubenon because so many people had been hired during wartime who never wanted their jobs back after peace returned!! Even though post war times haven't always been rosy forAshwaubenon however some great things have happened including becoming an official community within Milwaukee’s city Limits on January 1st 1956!!!!!
