In 1840, Allouez was one of the first towns in the Wisconsin Territory. The town was founded by fur traders and settlers from Illinois. By 1847, Allouez had a blacksmith shop, two stores, a school and a post office. In 1849, the town acquired its first gun store, which was run by Ebenezer Holmes. In 1860, the town annexed neighboring Village of Wellington. The following year saw the opening of the First National Bank in Allouez. In 1862-1863, Allouez became part of Green Bay and soon after it incorporated as a city under the name Green Bay

In 1876, Allouez became the home of the first firearms factory in Wisconsin. The factory manufactured rifles and shotguns for local militias. The factory closed in 1903, but a replica still stands today.
Allouez is a town in the town of Rockford, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the shores of Lake Michigan and has a population of 4,644 as of the 2016 Canadian census. The first Europeans to visit Allouez were French traders in 1672. The first settlers arrived in 1785 from Quebec City. The post office was founded in 1836 and named after Captain John Allouez, captain of HMS "Phoenix" during the Royal Navy's campaigns against the American Revolution. A grist mill was built in 1837 and became operational in 1840; it still stands today. A flour elevator was built in 1903 and became operational in 1906. A sawmill was also built around this time but ceased operations by 1914 because of World War I shortages of lumber. In 1928, a hydroelectric plant was constructed at Allouez for power generation; it operated until 1971 when it closed down due to low water levels. In 1951, allouez amalgamated with neighboring towns Rockford Glen and North Rockford to form the new Town of Rockford-Allouez Municipality which had a population of 9,527 as at 2014 . The following year (1952), an addition to the municipal government made all residents citizens instead Of just Township residents who voted for their Mayor And Council members! After over 50 years serving its citizens democratically - township officials have now been replaced by elected municipal officials! Since then - things have only gotten better for our great community! In 2017 we celebrated our centennial with lots of fun & festivities including: an open house & BBQ party complete with live music (& lotsa beer!), parade & fireworks display!, street fairs (including bike races!), carnival games galore!, bake sale (!),and more!

Allouez, Wisconsin was platted in 1836 and named for French explorer François Allouez. The community first developed around a small mill, which was destroyed by a fire in 1842. Over the next few years, many other businesses cropped up in the area, including a tannery and an flourmill. In 1851, the town granted incorporation to what is now known as Allouez Township. By 1865, the population of Allouez had reached about 100 people. In 1892, all of present-day Wisconsin was included within the United States as part of the Treaty of Paris following World War 1. As part of this treaty, all Native American land east of Lake Michigan were ceded to the United States government in exchange for money and goods. At this time, much of what is now Allouez Township lay within this portion of US-Dakota Territory. The township experienced some growth during World War II; in 1945 it became one of six townships that formed Racine County (along with Kenosha County and Brown County). The county seat shifted from Racine to West Milwaukee in 1951 due to population growth within the county boundaries.
