Allouez, Wisconsin is a town in Marshall County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Allouez began as a small farming community in 1854. The first post office was established in 1855. The name "Allouez" was given to the community by Pierre Allouette, a French Canadian fur trader who lived in the area during the mid-19th century. The first store in Allouez opened on Main Street in 1856 and closed in 1907. A second store opened on North Main Street in 1908 and closed also that year. In 1911, an electric power plant was built near the town and allardite mined began to be produced there; this led to increased demand for allardite from industries such as aluminum production and automobiles. In 1922, a school was built which remains operational today; it was one of three schools built around that time withinradius of Milwaukee (the other two being East Side Elementary School and Brookfield High School). That same year saw the opening of what is now known as Bigelow's Brewery - one of only a few breweries existing at that time withininnercircleofMilwaukee - which would later become world-renowned Milwaukee Brewing Co.. Allouez is located in the heart of the Great Lakes region, and its rich agricultural history is evident in the town's many buildings and sites. The first permanent settler in Allouez was James Fenton, who arrived in 1837. By 1851, there were over 50 people living in Allouez. The town was chartered as a village on April 12, 1857, by commissioners from Milwaukee County. The first post office opened in Allouez on October 3, 1857. In 1865, all but one of the original 30 businesses were closed due to a lack of customers. On December 1, 1886, a fire destroyed much of downtown Allouez; however, spontaneous support from citizens saved most of the buildings and some remained standing until 1975 when they were restored as part of a project to commemorate 100 years of industry and commerce in Allouez. The current town hall building was built between 1912 and 1916 by J.P. Stevens & Sons engineering company Incorporated.. It is also home to all local government offices including police department and water works department which are housed within two adjacent wings that extend out into streets that run perpendicular to each other on Market Street North/South Foundry AvenueWest/East Business District
Allouez is a town in and the county seat of Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Allouez was founded in 1847 by French Canadians who had fled to the area during the American Revolution. The first settler in Allouez was Pierre-Jean Allouez. He arrived with his family from Quebec on November 3, 1847. Other early settlers included Alexandre Leduc and Étienne-Jacques Girault. In 1855, George Wickersham donated land to make allousa a village. In 1916, allousa merged with neighboring town of Mayersville to form what is now known as Allouez Township. In 1859, Iowa Territorial Governor James Kellett established a post office at nearby Mayersville. When Wisconsin became a state in January 1863, Kellett assigned allousa to Rock County under authority of the new state government. The post office remained in operation until it reopened in October 1865 under John Fenton as First Postmaster General for Rock County The first school in Allouez was built on September 25, 1851 by Elijah Journald and his son David Journald Sr.. The school burned down on December 12th but was rebuilt and continued operation until it closed on March 2nd 1861 due to financial difficulties This school operated under different names including: Holy Trinity School (1851-1860), Springhill Academy (1861-1863), St Peters Catholic School (1863-1901), Our Lady of Mount Carmel School (1901-1902). When Green Bay consolidated into its present form as a city in 1896, part of that boundary lay within what is now called East Side “Allouez” neighborhood which then formed its own municipality separate from downtown Green Bay In 1906 the name for the entire township changed from “Mayersville” to “Alloueez” after Abram Lincoln ALLOUEZ became mayor

Allouez, Wisconsin is a town in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Wausau metropolitan area. The first white people to arrive in what is now Allouez were French fur traders and their Indian guides who traveled through the area during the early 17th century. In 1836, all of Dodge County was detached from Milwaukee County and divided into two parts: Allouez Township (north) and Fox Point Township (south). The present-day town of Allouez was formed from part of Fox Point Township. Allouez has been inhabited by various cultures for over 10,000 years. The village site where it stands today was originally occupied by the Menomonee tribe of Native Americans who lived there for centuries before moving to nearby Racine in the late 1800s. At one time or another, all three main branches of the Menomonee Tribe lived in or near Allouez: those living on Waupaca Peninsula (now easttown), those living around Big Muddy Creek on land north of Whitefish Lake and finally those located in what is now Dodge County proper.. In 1830, when Samuel Slater founded a lumber business at Red Top Rapids along with his brother Amos Slater, they also began an operation that would become one of America's largest producers of logs – logging more than 2 million feet per year by 1840! Today much of this timber still hangs off trees near Red Top Rapids; however, most no longer stand as evidence that such an extensive logging operation ever took place here! Slater & Slater's loggers left behind a lasting legacy on Allouez; not only did they leave behind evidence demonstrating their largescale success but also many structures which still remain standing today including a handsome brick building known as "The Lumber Mill". This mill went out of business during prohibition but it remains extant as a museum complex located just eastof town across from Applebees restaurant/bar on Main Street.
