Allouez, Wisconsin is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The population was 5,867 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of Appleton-Waukesha County and is bordered by Waukesha County to the east and north, Racine County to the west, and Menomonee County to the south. Allouez has been inhabited since beforeWisconsin was admitted into Confederation as a state in 1848. The first permanent settler in Allouez was John Allouez who arrived there in 1826 from Ohio. He erected a log cabin on what is now Main Street. In 1830, he married Christina Hendrickson; they had five children: John (1831-1904), James (1833-1900), Emmalee (1835-1924), Chasuble (1837-1920), and George Washington (1839-1923). In 1857, James Allouez donated two acres of land for a public school which became known as "Allouez Township School." It opened in 1860 with 30 students under teacher Mrs. Hargrave's guidance; it grew to serve more than 550 students over three decades until discontinued during World War II due to financial difficulties. In 1868, when Appleton organized as a city, "Allouees Township" became an official part of that city limits; however, it continued to be administered by "Allouese Township School District." On July 1st 1870 all residents of Appleton were annexed into Racine County so that larger towns could be formed without havingto deal with smaller villages or rural areas againspecially if those villages desiredseparation from their larger neighborsto form their own township boroughs or cities etc... This annexation removed much of what little individualitythere was left within these smaller communitiesand made life far easier for officials who would later have responsibilityfor governing these newly formed townships while still keeping them within county boundaries... On December 11th 1870 RacineCounty voters passed an ordinance ratifying this annexation giving new inhabitants accessto voting rights & making any changes they may deem necessary theretoforeunspecified... Most importantlythe vote representedthe first timeRacine Counties citizens hadevercome togethervoluntarily&agreedto share responsibilitiesamong themselvesoutsideof traditional county government procedures... After annexation acheived Raccoon offered its shareof services such as fire brigade & law enforcement but declined because it feltthat annexing too much territorywould have implications for its own enlargement planswhich were never fully realized

Allouez is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Mississippi River near its confluence with the Saint Lawrence River. The population was 7,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Allouez was platted in 1847 and named for Nicholas Allouez, a French fur trader who had come to this area in 1835 and established himself as an explorer and landowner. The first post office opened in 1853, and the first store was built in 1856. The town took its name from Nicholas Allouez's rancho, which layutenants John Laughlin and George Stephenson mapped out in 1840 when they were working for Colonel Nathaniel Lyon. In 1862, Allouez became one of twelve towns forming Racine County; it remained an agricultural community until it became a city when Racine annexed all of neighboring Rawlins in 1932. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and (1%) is water.[1] As of the census[2] of 2010, there were 7,869 people residing in town.. Of those 7,869 residents: 71% are white (non-Hispanic), 14% are black or African American (non-Hispanic), 2% are Native American/Alaskan Native or Alaska Native descent*, 1% are Asian/Pacific Islander*, 0.5% are Hispanic or Latino* (of any race), 2% have two or more races* (*includes 1% who identify as “other”). As reported by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; "There were no Latinos living here when we collected data."
