Eventually enough different groups bought up all of these trading posts so that no one group could rule over all of them anymore]]. This process led to increased competition among the various communities which caused prices for goods and services to go up as well as technological advances which improved tools used for trade.]]. One of the biggest changes brought about by this increase in competition occurred when religious beliefs began playing an important role within each community [ ]. Previously each town had its own gods or goddesses who were responsible for everything from weather patterns to farming]].
