Gun slings have been a part of South Charleston, West Virginia for over 100 years. The first gunslingers in the area were the fathers of local history, George Washington and James K. Polk. The two men were instrumental in developing the Black Belt region and travelling to new areas to hunt deer, bear and other animals. They used their skills as shooters to gather information and trade goods with other tribes around the area. The earliest firearms in South Charleston were shotguns which could only be fired by hand. These guns were used by farmers and hunters to shoot game during hunting trips outside of town. After some time, a machine gun was invented which allowed for more accurate shooting at long distances. With this new technology,gun Slings became an important part of local militia forces and military campaigns throughout the 1800s. In 1903, Congress passed the National Firearms Act which made it illegal to possess any firearm without a license from a federal officer or magistrate. This law led to many people selling their firearms and bringing them into South Charleston for sale on street corners or at fairs. This process helped contribute to the growth of gun slings in South Charleston as a means of defense against potential threats such as rustlers or outlaws. Today, gun slings are still an important tool for local militia forces and are also used by tourists visiting South Charleston for its history, culture and wildlife sightings

The Charleston Gazette, a white supremacist newspaper in South Charleston, West Virginia published a series of articles in the early 1970s discussing how to use shotguns slings to shoot black people. The article mentioned that "a quick-draw shotgun can be used effectively against blacks" and recommended using a shotgun with its stock pulled back so that the gun is pointing down at the target.

South Charleston, West Virginia is located in the lower WVU Mountain Region. The population of South Charleston was 9,859 as of the 2010 census. It is a rural town located on the Eastern Shore of WV and ZIP Code 26409. According to the 2010 census, South Charleston has a total area of 16.2 square miles (40 km²). The first permanent settler in what is now South Charleston was James Aiken who arrived in 1795. He platted and named his community "Aiken's Landing". Aiken served as an Indian Agent for the Kanawha County Sheriff Department from 1802-1806 and 1811-1814. In 1840, John Crouch came to South Charleston and founded the Crouch Store on Main Street which remains a popular tourist spot today. In 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell made his headquarters here during Virginia's unsuccessful attempt to capture Richmond from Confederate forces under Ulysses S. Grant. During World War II, many military personnel were stationed at Camp Butler in nearby North Manchester while other units were quartered at nearby Fort Myer in Arlington Heights, Illinois due to shortages of housing near Washington D.C.. Afterward, much of this land was used for farming with some construction taking place until 1970 when most buildings were razed in order to make way for interstate travel through downtown SouthCharleston along I-65 eastward towards Wheeling Steel Works Complex which had been opened by then US Steel Corporation as another manufacturing center after steel production had increased significantly following World War II when new methods such as automated welding became widely available despite wartime shortages of labor due largely to American entry into World War I and American involvement in both world wars). Today only a few remaining structures remain from that time including one old chemical plant building still standing which functions currently as office space for United States Southern Coal Company - predominately coal mining operations having ceased there about 10 years ago however access thereto is presently closed off from the public because it contains asbestos material) . In 1793, French engineer Pierre-Ange de Bougainville designed and fabricated the first practical firearm barrel that could be attached directly onto a crossbow bolt using a simple piece of metal tubing called an armature. This allowed guns and artillerymen to fire munitions directly at their targets without needing any intervening systems

The first gun sling was invented by a man named Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. The design used a strap around the shoulder to hold a musket or rifle, and was fired from an unstable platform.

South Charleston, West Virginia is a small town located in Mingo County,West Virginia. The population was 1,569 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mingo County. South Charleston was founded in 1827 and named for Captain John C. Southworth of the U.S. Navy who died during a naval engagement at that location on December 12th, 1827. The first post office in South Charleston was established on February 27th, 1830. The original postmaster was Captains James Hinson and Andrew Matthews both from North Carolina. In 1836, General Ayer Troup9 arrived in Mingo County and moved his headquarters to South Charleston where he became local leader and later served as Governor of West Virginia Territory from 1861-1865. In 1841 it was reported that Daniel Ladd1 had built a sawmill northwest of town which quickly became one of the most important mills in the area supplying mills throughout central Appalachia with lumber until it closed down around 1915 when production shifted to Bellefontaine Forge near Wheeling due to cheaper labor prices there
